About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

YANVI is looking for a hands-on freelance engineer to help test, integrate and assemble two pilot robots in Bengaluru. This is a paid, project-based engagement involving custom PCBs, embedded computing, servos, displays, lighting, audio and 3D-printed mechanical parts.
Our electronics engineers are completing the PCB review and design corrections. Mechanical parts are being prepared separately. The founder will handle application software and firmware. Your focus will be physical electronics testing, cable harnesses, electromechanical integration and final assembly.
What you will do
Inspect assembled PCBs and perform staged first-power and functional tests using the supplied engineering test procedures.
Measure power rails, current consumption, startup behaviour, relevant signals and operating temperatures; diagnose faults and document results.
Prepare or coordinate cable harness fabrication, verify pin mapping and continuity, and check connector fit, cable routing and strain relief.
Carry out required soldering, connector installation and minor rework within an agreed scope; coordinate design-related faults with our electronics engineers.
Integrate the PCBs, embedded computer, servos, displays, microphones, speaker, lighting and sensors with the mechanical assembly.
Assemble and validate one reference robot, then repeat the documented build for the second unit.
Work with the founder on firmware loading, motion calibration, travel limits and end-to-end behaviour.
Test the complete robots for simultaneous operation, heating, reliable startup, microphone mute, power-loss recovery and sustained operation.
Provide test records, an as-built wiring/assembly record and a concise handover identifying any unresolved issues. Help prepare protective transport packing.
What we are looking for
Demonstrated hands-on experience with custom PCB bring-up, electronics troubleshooting and prototype assembly.
Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams and use an oscilloscope, multimeter and suitable bench power/test equipment.
Practical soldering, cable assembly and connector/crimping experience, including verification of completed harnesses.
Comfort working with servos, embedded computers/controllers and mechanical assemblies.
Careful measurement, clear documentation and communication when a test fails or a design change is needed.
Availability for physical work in Bengaluru. Access to an equipped bench or lab is strongly preferred; please specify the equipment you can provide.
Experience integrating Raspberry Pi/ESP32 systems, robotics prototypes or multi-board products is particularly useful. Demonstrated practical work matters more than a specific degree or job title.
What we will provide
Reviewed and revised design files, BOMs, wiring information and engineering test instructions as they become available.
The PCBs, purchased components and mechanical parts required for the agreed build.
Founder support for software/firmware and access to the electronics and mechanical engineers for clarification.
Timing and commercials
We would like to begin planning and preparation promptly. Current targets are mechanical parts by 20 October 2026 and assembled PCBs around early November, subject to supplier delivery. We need someone who can reserve availability for integration when the boards arrive.
Scope, milestones, estimated hours and payment terms will be agreed before work starts. Please include your hourly or project rate and identify any additional lab, tooling or consumable costs. Component sourcing and purchases will require separate approval.
To apply
Please share:
Two or three relevant examples of physical electronics/robotics builds and your role in them.
Your Bengaluru location, availability and earliest start date.
Your test equipment and workshop/lab access.
Whether you can cover board testing, harnesses and box build yourself, and any work you would need to subcontract.
Your rate and a preliminary estimate for supporting two pilot-unit builds, with assumptions.
Detailed design files will be shared with shortlisted candidates under appropriate confidentiality arrangements.
