Toy Designer

Tales is looking for a creative toy designer to help grow our line of toys and collectible products. This is an ongoing contract role. It is not a full-time position.
Compensation: $2,000–$3,000/month
What you'll do
• Develop original concepts for toys and collectibles
• Use generative AI to explore ideas and produce visual concepts quickly
• Define silhouettes, colors, characters, patterns, packaging and product families
• Turn selected concepts into factory-ready specs: orthographic views, dimensions, color and deco callouts
• Work with overseas factories to refine samples through development rounds
• Track toy, collectible, social-media and pop-culture trends and turn them into new products
What we're looking for
• Strong product design skills, with a good eye for 3D form, proportion, color and consumer appeal
• Advanced Photoshop and Illustrator
• Daily use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Adobe Firefly or Stable Diffusion. We want a strong designer who uses AI to work faster, not someone who uses it in place of design skill.
• Experience with PU foam, TPE/gel, silicone, plush, molded plastics or similar materials
• Toy, collectible or consumer-product experience strongly preferred
• 3D/CAD/rendering is a plus
Your title matters less to us than your portfolio. Please include physical product work, factory specs or products you took to production, and examples of AI-assisted concepts.
