Role Description The Director of Artificial Intelligence is a full-time, remote leadership role responsible for defining and executing NovaChain IA’s AI strategy. This role oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of AI initiatives, including problem definition, data strategy, model development, validation, deployment, and ongoing optimization. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and mentoring data science and machine learning teams, setting technical standards, reviewing architectures and models, and ensuring best practices in experimentation, evaluation, and model governance. The director collaborates closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to identify high-value AI use cases, translate requirements into technical roadmaps, and align AI solutions with ethical, regulatory, and security considerations. The role also involves staying current with developments in AI research, evaluating tools and platforms, and representing AI capabilities in executive discussions and client-facing presentations.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, software engineering principles, and distributed systems.
Expertise in Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition, with experience designing, training, and deploying models for real-world applications.
Advanced skills in Data Science and Analytics, including statistical analysis, data preprocessing, feature engineering, and performance evaluation.
Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary AI teams and driving complex technical projects from concept to production.
Proficiency with modern ML ecosystems (e.g., Python, deep learning frameworks, MLOps tools, cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and influence strategic decisions.
Experience establishing AI governance, including model risk management, fairness, transparency, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Background working in remote, distributed teams, with strong organizational skills and the ability to work across time zones.
Industry experience applying AI in production environments (e.g., finance, healthcare, logistics, or similar domains) is highly beneficial.
