About Flip Fractional
Flip Fractional is a fractional CFO firm for 7- & 8-figure businesses in beauty & wellness, interior design & other brick-and-mortar service industries. Everything we build for clients sits on top of their books, so those books need to be accurate, tidy & ready when we need them.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant to own each client's books, from the first transaction to the final financial statements. You'll categorize, reconcile, close the month & deliver GAAP-compliant financials. You're fluent in QBO & know how to make it do exactly what we need, even when there's no built-in way to do it.
You're also a clear, friendly communicator. Our philosophy is simple: we take the long route so our clients can take the short one. That means you do the digging first & only bring clients the questions they truly need to answer, in language anyone can understand.
The Technical Side
Categorization: categorize transactions accurately & consistently, using every available resource before asking the client
Reconciliations: reconcile every bank, credit card, loan & clearing account, every month
Month-end close: own the close for each client, from first entry to final review, delivered on time & accurately
Financial statements: prepare & own GAAP-compliant P&Ls, balance sheets & cash flow statements, including accruals & adjusting entries
QBO structure: build & refine charts of accounts, classes, locations & products/services so each client's books support clear reporting
QBO problem-solving: find creative, sound ways to get QBO to produce the views & reports we need, whether the path is straightforward or not
Payroll reconciliation: tie payroll provider reports to QBO every month, including tips, commissions & benefits
CPA handoff: prepare tax-ready books & year-end packages for each client's CPA
Internal controls: design & maintain controls, keep documentation & audit trails clean & flag anything that needs a closer look
The Client Side
Proactive first: research receipts, past patterns, vendor details & prior conversations before reaching out. Clients hear from you only when you truly need their input.
Simple, human language: turn accounting questions into plain, everyday ones. Instead of "Please provide support for the uncategorized expense," you'd ask, "Was this $240 charge at Home Depot for the salon or personal?"
Easy to answer: batch your questions, give context & make each one quick to answer so clients can respond in minutes
Clear follow-through: close the loop, update the books & keep clients informed about what's been done
Building the Function
SOPs: document your processes so our accounting can scale as we grow
Workflow improvements: spot manual steps & help us automate them
Room to Grow
You'll be building our accounting function from the ground up. As Flip grows, this role can grow with it: leading & reviewing bookkeepers, shaping our standards & taking on a bigger leadership role in how we deliver for clients.
What You Bring
QBO certification (required): current QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification, plus advanced, hands-on experience
US experience (required): 3+ years of accounting for US-based businesses
US GAAP (required): proven experience preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements & owning the month-end close
Payroll know-how: experience reconciling payroll from providers like Gusto, ADP or Paychex
Communication skills: a track record of explaining financial topics simply & warmly to non-financial people
Industry experience (preferred): beauty & wellness, interior design or other service businesses
English: excellent written & spoken English
Detail orientation: you catch the small things early
Education: a degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
What Actually Matters
We're a tech-forward team. We automate wherever we can, & we want someone who thinks in systems, not just entries. You're happy to roll up your sleeves on the details, & you care about making our clients' lives easier. You do the heavy lifting so they don't have to.
