LOAM is a fast-growing supplements company bringing elegant, efficacious solutions to microbiome health. Led by our founder and CEO Dr. Karan Rajan, LOAM launched in October 2025 with a commitment to becoming the most trusted, science-backed brand in the category.
We are looking for a Head of Finance to build our finance function from the ground up and give the business the financial clarity it needs to grow with discipline.
About the Role
We are looking for a strategic, analytical, and hands-on Head of Finance to build and own our financial planning and analysis (FP&A) engine as we scale. This is a director-level role for someone who is energized by building in a high-growth, resource-conscious environment — turning messy early-stage data into forecasts, models, and insights that drive smarter decisions across the business.
This role is FP&A-forward: you will spend the majority of your time on forecasting, modeling, budgeting, and business partnering, while also standing up the accounting, reporting, and controls infrastructure a scaling startup needs. You will be equally comfortable presenting a scenario model to leadership and rolling up your sleeves to reconcile the numbers behind it.
As Head of Finance, you will be the company's go-to owner of financial performance — protecting cash, sharpening unit economics, and making sure every major decision is grounded in a clear-eyed view of the numbers.
This is a fully remote position (North America preferred) reporting to the COO.
Primary Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Own the company's financial model, building and maintaining a driver-based operating model that connects revenue, margins, spend, and cash.
Lead rolling forecasts and model pricing, promotions, new product launches, and channel expansion, and evaluate their P&L impact. Partner with Supply Chain on inventory, COGs, and working capital planning.
Enable decision support by building scenario and sensitivity analyses to stress-test growth plans, pricing, and spend decisions before capital is committed.
Translate financial analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
Budgeting & Resource Allocation
Own the annual budget and quarterly reforecast process, partnering with functional owners to set and manage targets.
Track spend against budget, surface variances early, and hold the organization accountable to plan.
Prioritize investment decisions to maximize return while protecting runway.
Reporting, Board & Investor Support
Prepare monthly management reporting and KPI dashboards that give the team a clear, timely view of performance.
Build board and investor materials, and support fundraising with data rooms, models, and diligence.
Establish the core financial metrics and reporting cadence for the company.
Accounting, Controls & Compliance
Own the monthly close, working with external accountants/bookkeepers to ensure accurate, timely financials.
Stand up scalable accounting policies, internal controls, and processes appropriate for the stage.
Manage tax, audit, and regulatory compliance in partnership with external advisors.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense management.
Cash & Working Capital Management
Own cash flow forecasting and runway management, giving leadership early visibility into cash needs.
Optimize working capital across inventory, payables, and receivables.
Manage banking relationships, and evaluate financing options as the company grows.
Systems & Process
Select and implement finance and reporting tools that scale with the business, improving automation and data visibility.
Build repeatable, well-documented processes so the finance function scales without added headcount wherever possible.
Establish a culture of financial discipline and data-driven decision making across the company.
Skills and Qualifications:
7+ years of progressive finance experience, with a strong core in FP&A (CPG/DTC required, start up experience preferred)
Proven track record building financial models and forecasts from scratch
Strong understanding of unit economics and gross margin in a physical-product business (inventory, COGS, landed cost)
Experience across multiple sales channels — DTC, Amazon, and/or wholesale/retail — strongly preferred
Solid grounding in accounting fundamentals and month-end close, even if execution is shared with external partners
Expert-level Excel / Google Sheets financial modeling (required)
Experience with accounting and finance systems (e.g., NetSuite, and FP&A or reporting tools)
Highly analytical with excellent business judgment and strong communication skills
Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on, and thriving amid the ambiguity of a scaling startup
