About the role
We are hiring a Senior Android Developer to design, build and ship high-quality Android apps used by real customers at scale. You will own features end to end, shape the app's architecture, and raise the engineering bar for the team.
This role suits an engineer with 5–8 years of hands-on Android experience, deep Kotlin knowledge, strong fundamentals in architecture and testing, and the judgement to make sound technical trade-offs. You will work with product, design, backend and QA, and report to the Engineering lead.
What you will do
Design and build Android features end to end, from technical design through release and post-launch monitoring.
Define and evolve the app architecture (MVVM/MVI, Clean Architecture or similar), modularisation and dependency injection.
Write clean, testable, well-documented Kotlin code and set the standard through thoughtful code reviews.
Build modern UI with Jetpack Compose (and legacy Views where needed) that follows Material Design and supports accessibility.
Own performance: startup time, memory, battery, networking, and smooth rendering, using Android Studio Profiler and Perfetto to find and fix bottlenecks.
Integrate REST/GraphQL APIs, push notifications (FCM), analytics, payments and third-party SDKs securely and reliably.
Build and maintain unit, UI and screenshot tests, and keep CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bitrise or similar) fast and stable.
Manage Google Play releases, staged rollouts, crash monitoring and compatibility across devices and OS versions.
Mentor mid-level and junior engineers and help the team make good technical decisions.
Partner with product, design, backend and QA to scope work, flag risks early and deliver predictably.
What you bring
5–8 years of professional Android development, with at least two apps shipped to Google Play and maintained in production.
Expert Kotlin, including coroutines, Flow, sealed classes, extension functions and null safety, plus working knowledge of Java for legacy code.
Deep experience with Jetpack Compose and the View system, and the judgement to migrate or mix them.
Strong concurrency skills: coroutines, structured concurrency, Flow and StateFlow, and how to avoid leaks and lifecycle bugs.
Solid grasp of architecture and design patterns, SOLID principles and dependency injection (Hilt, Dagger or Koin), with experience refactoring large codebases.
Strong testing habits: JUnit, Mockito or MockK, Espresso, Compose UI tests and testable design.
Experience with networking (Retrofit, OkHttp), persistence (Room, DataStore), caching and offline-first behaviour.
Good understanding of app security: Keystore, certificate pinning, secure storage, R8/ProGuard and Play data-safety requirements.
Proficiency with Git, pull-request workflows, Gradle and CI/CD.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, including Profiler, LeakCanary and Logcat.
Clear written and spoken English, and the ability to explain trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience with performance, security or accessibility audits, and with large fragmented device fleets.
Open-source contributions, technical writing or conference talks.
Experience leading a small team or acting as a tech lead.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
