About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to lead craft quality across our product design team. This is a hands-on role with real authority: you will design, you will review, and you will set the bar that everything on the product side clears before it ships.
Our design team is centralized and supports multiple product lines across mobile and desktop, working directly with product owners, engineering, and marketing. We run two-week sprints, maintain our own design systems, and have built an AI-assisted design pipeline that is genuinely ahead of where most teams are.
You are the quality gate for product design. Work comes to you before it goes anywhere else, and your review is what determines whether it is ready. You will also be executing at a senior level on flagship work, and developing the designers below you so the bar rises across the whole team rather than resting on one person. This role exists because craft authority should be held by the person doing the best craft. It carries a clear path to expanded ownership as the team grows.
Key Responsibilities
Craft and Quality
Hold final craft quality on product design work — spacing, layout systems, interaction consistency, and
design system integrity
Review and approve product deliverables before handoff, catching issues while they are still cheap to fix
Execute hands-on at a senior level on flagship features and new product surfaces
Ensure every handoff is genuinely buildable — if engineering cannot work with the file, it does not pass
Design systems
Build, extend, and maintain design systems across multiple products
Enforce correct component architecture, variants, auto-layout, and design tokens
Identify where systems are drifting and fix them before the drift compounds
Leadership and mentorship
Provide first-pass review and direct feedback to mid-level and junior designers
Mentor deliberately — teach the reasoning, not just the correction, so designers improve rather than depend
Raise the collective bar: your success is measured by the team's output, not only your own
Collaboration and process
Work directly with product owners, producers, and engineering across multiple product lines
Participate in sprint planning, sizing, and estimation
Document decisions and standards so they survive beyond any single conversation
Communicate early and clearly, especially when something is at risk
Who You Are
6+ years in product or UX/UI design, with at least 2 years reviewing or leading other designers
Strong portfolio demonstrating shipped product work across mobile and desktop
Mastery of Figma — not proficiency. Component architecture, variants, auto-layout, variables, and library management at an expert level
Demonstrated ownership of a design system: built it, maintained it, enforced it
Exceptional attention to detail. This is the single most important quality for this role
Experience mentoring and developing junior and mid-level designers
Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams — product, engineering, marketing
Strong communication skills, including the ability to give direct feedback well and articulate design
decisions to non-designers
Comfortable working independently across multiple concurrent projects
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AI-assisted design workflows — Claude, Magnific, or similar tooling for generation,
research, and production
Familiarity with agile or sprint-based delivery; experience with Jira and Confluence
Motion design familiarity, or experience specifying motion for developers
Brand and visual identity experience alongside product work
Experience working with distributed and remote teams across time zones
Background contributing to design operations, standards, or documentation
Work arrangement
Yes
