ERP Consultant (Sage 300/Acumatica)

About the Role
The ERP Consultant is responsible for helping clients implement, optimize, support, and improve their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Sage 300 and/or Acumatica and a solid understanding of accounting, finance, inventory, purchasing, sales, and other business processes.
The ERP Consultant works directly with clients to understand their business requirements, assess existing processes, configure ERP solutions, troubleshoot system issues, support implementations and upgrades, and recommend improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
This role requires a combination of ERP functional expertise, business analysis, client consulting, and technical understanding. The consultant will also work closely with developers and technical teams when customizations, integrations, or complex technical solutions are required.
Key Responsibilities:
ERP Consulting & Business Analysis
Work directly with clients to understand their business operations, processes, and ERP requirements.
Conduct discovery sessions, interviews, and process assessments with key stakeholders.
Analyze existing workflows and identify inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Translate business requirements into practical ERP solutions.
Recommend appropriate ERP configurations and processes based on client requirements.
Advise clients on ERP best practices while minimizing unnecessary customization.
Identify potential risks, dependencies, and challenges during implementation or system changes.
ERP Implementation
Participate in or lead ERP implementation projects from requirements gathering through go-live.
Assist with project planning, requirements documentation, configuration, testing, training, and deployment.
Configure ERP modules based on approved business requirements.
Assist with system setup, user roles, permissions, workflows, and business rules.
Coordinate with clients to ensure successful User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Support go-live activities and post-implementation stabilization.
Monitor implementation issues and ensure timely resolution.
Sage 300 / Acumatica Expertise
Apply hands-on knowledge of Sage 300 and/or Acumatica to solve client business and system requirements.
Configure and support relevant ERP modules.
Troubleshoot functional issues and determine whether problems are related to configuration, data, integrations, customizations, or user processes.
Assist clients with ERP upgrades, enhancements, and system optimization.
Evaluate existing configurations and recommend improvements.
Work with developers on Sage 300 or Acumatica customizations where required.
System Configuration & Optimization
Configure ERP systems according to approved requirements.
Review and optimize existing configurations.
Configure workflows, approvals, user roles, security settings, and business rules.
Identify opportunities to automate manual processes.
Recommend improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and data visibility.
Ensure system configurations support the client's business processes and internal controls.
ERP Support & Troubleshooting
Provide functional and technical support to clients.
Investigate reported ERP issues and determine root causes.
Resolve configuration, process, data, and user-related issues.
Coordinate with developers or technical teams when issues require customization or code-level investigation.
Prioritize issues based on business impact and urgency.
Document recurring issues and recommend permanent solutions.
Provide timely updates to clients regarding issue resolution.
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
3–7 years of ERP consulting, implementation, support, or administration experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Sage 300 and/or Acumatica.
Strong understanding of accounting and business processes.
Experience gathering and analyzing business requirements.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting ERP systems.
Experience working directly with clients.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, clients, and priorities.
