Joining: Immediate
Experience: 5–7 years
Practice area: Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Location: New Delhi (on-site, full-time)
The role
This is a senior role at the core of our litigation practice. You'll work hand in hand with the lead partner on the firm's key disputes and be the person the case is built on: the one who knows the record, the law and the witnesses better than anyone else in the room. When a matter needs you to take charge, you'll be ready to.
What you'll do
Work closely with the lead partner on the firm's key disputes, shaping case strategy, evidence and arguments from first instructions to final hearing
Be the backbone of every matter you work on, with in-depth research, a full command of the facts and record, and a case built on the merits
Draft and settle plaints, written statements, writ petitions, appeals, applications and written submissions across original and appellate jurisdiction
Prepare witnesses, plan examination and cross-examination, and take up hearings before the Supreme Court, High Courts, trial courts and tribunals as matters require
Take independent charge of matters as and when required
Move fast on urgent matters, including interim relief, injunctions and time-bound filings
Handle criminal defence work, including bail and quashing, when a matter calls for it
Advise clients on strategy, risk and settlement options, and keep them informed at every stage
Brief and work alongside senior counsel where engaged
Mentor and review the work of junior associates
This outlines the core of the role. The actual scope is broader.
What we're looking for
5–7 years of litigation experience. Prior experience at a litigation chamber or litigation firm is essential.
Cross-examination as a genuine strength
A strong grounding in commercial and civil litigation, with some experience in criminal matters
Range: you're comfortable moving between different kinds of disputes rather than sticking to one lane
Advocacy built on research and thorough preparation
Speed without loss of quality on tight timelines
The ability to manage client relationships independently
Your first 90 days
Your first 90 days are where you show us how you work. We'll be looking at the ownership you take of your matters and the initiative you show in delivering them for our clients.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
