Industrial Automation Lead

Company Description Supa Technology Center and Consultancy Private Limited is a fast-growing startup delivering industrial automation solutions to manufacturing and process industries. We are building a team that can take a project from the first client conversation to final handover, and we are looking for a hands-on leader to own that journey.
Role Overview
As Industrial Automation Lead, you will own end-to-end project responsibility: understanding client needs, preparing technical proposals and estimates, designing the solution, leading the engineering and commissioning team, and delivering on time, within budget and to quality. You will be the primary technical and commercial face to the client and the key builder of our delivery capability.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement and Pre-Sales
• Meet clients, understand process requirements and translate them into technical scope
• Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies
• Prepare technical proposals, BOMs, cost estimates and timelines; support commercial negotiation and order closure
• Build long-term client relationships and identify repeat and upsell opportunities
Solution Design and Engineering
• Define system architecture across PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS, VFD/drives, motion control, instrumentation and industrial networks
• Review and approve P&IDs, I/O lists, control philosophy, panel and electrical drawings
• Select hardware and software (Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, ABB, etc.) based on client and cost needs
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards (IEC, IS, ISA) and safety requirements
Project Delivery and Execution
• Own project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, budgeting and risk management
• Lead PLC/SCADA/HMI programming, panel build, FAT, installation, commissioning and SAT
• Coordinate with vendors, panel builders, electrical contractors and site teams
• Track milestones, manage change requests and scope creep, and report progress to management and client
• Ensure documentation, as-built drawings, manuals and training at handover
Team Leadership
• Lead and mentor automation engineers, programmers and site technicians
• Set engineering standards, templates and reusable libraries to speed up delivery
• Help hire, onboard and grow the team as the company scales
Business and Quality
• Own project P&L, margin and cash-flow milestones (billing, retention, payment follow-up)
• Drive quality, safety (HSE) and after-sales support, including AMC and warranty handling
• Contribute to company strategy, service offerings and technology roadmap (IIoT, Industry 4.0, data and MES integration)
Required Qualifications
• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or Automation Engineering
• 8–12 years of experience in industrial automation, with at least 3 years leading projects or teams
• Proven record of delivering projects end to end, including client interaction, commissioning and handover
• Strong hands-on expertise in PLC, SCADA and HMI programming on at least two major platforms
• Good knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus/Profinet, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, HART)
• Ability to read and review electrical, instrumentation and control drawings
• Experience in estimation, proposal preparation and project costing
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to DCS, robotics, motion control, vision systems, or batch/process automation
• Experience with IIoT, MES, historian or data analytics integration
• PMP or equivalent project management training; knowledge of functional safety (SIL, IEC 61508/61511)
• Experience in sectors such as FMCG, pharma, food and beverage, automotive, packaging, water or energy
• Prior startup or SME experience, comfortable with ambiguity and wearing multiple hats
