AutoCAD Draftsman

Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable AutoCAD Draftsman to prepare accurate technical drawings, layouts, plans, and documentation in support of design, engineering, construction, and project requirements. This role is responsible for translating design concepts, specifications, measurements, and technical information into clear and precise drawings using AutoCAD and related drafting tools.
The AutoCAD Draftsman will work closely with engineers, architects, designers, project managers, contractors, and other technical professionals to develop and update drawings throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical requirements while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and proper drafting standards.
Key responsibilities include preparing detailed 2D drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, layouts, schematics, construction drawings, and other technical documentation according to project specifications. Drawings should be clearly organized, properly dimensioned, and presented in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements.
The position will also review existing drawings, sketches, specifications, site measurements, and reference materials to identify the information required for drafting activities. The Draftsman may assist with converting concepts, marked-up drawings, hand sketches, and design changes into accurate digital drawings.
The role involves maintaining drawing revisions and ensuring that updated information is reflected correctly across relevant documents. Proper file organization, version control, drawing numbering, and documentation are essential to support efficient project coordination and prevent the use of outdated information.
The AutoCAD Draftsman will coordinate with project teams to clarify technical details, resolve drawing discrepancies, and incorporate approved design changes. The role may also assist with preparing drawings for construction, fabrication, installation, tender submissions, planning approvals, or other project requirements.
Depending on the project, the position may support architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, interior, civil, or MEP drafting activities. The ability to understand different drawing types and coordinate information across disciplines is highly valuable.
Quality and accuracy are key responsibilities. The Draftsman will review drawings for dimensions, annotations, symbols, scale, layouts, references, and other technical details before submission. Any inconsistencies or missing information should be identified and communicated to the appropriate team.
The role may also assist with quantity take-offs, drawing registers, material schedules, as-built documentation, presentation drawings, and other technical project records where required.
The successful candidate should be organized, precise, collaborative, and comfortable working with multiple drawings and project priorities. A strong technical mindset and commitment to producing clear, accurate, and professional documentation are essential.
Qualifications
Diploma, degree, or equivalent qualification in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Design, or a related technical field is preferred.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and computer-aided drafting principles.
Ability to produce accurate and detailed 2D technical drawings.
Good understanding of drafting standards, drawing layouts, dimensions, annotations, symbols, and scales.
Ability to interpret architectural, engineering, construction drawings, sketches, specifications, and technical documentation.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Familiarity with drawing revision, version control, file organization, and document management.
Ability to incorporate design changes and technical revisions accurately.
Good understanding of construction and technical terminology.
Familiarity with architectural, structural, MEP, civil, or mechanical drawings is an advantage.
Ability to work from sketches, measurements, markups, specifications, and other technical references.
Strong spatial awareness and technical visualization skills.
Ability to identify inconsistencies, missing information, and potential drafting errors.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Familiarity with Revit, Civil 3D, SketchUp, SolidWorks, or other CAD/BIM software is an advantage.
Ability to maintain drawing registers, technical documentation, and project records.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to coordinate effectively with engineers, architects, designers, contractors, and project managers.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple drawings, revisions, and deadlines while maintaining quality.
