Mechanical Engineering Intern – Medical Device R&D

We are looking for a motivated final-year Mechanical Engineering student with a strong interest in medical device design, computational engineering, and product development.The ideal candidate should have experience with 3D CAD modelling, mechanical design, and engineering simulations.
Familiarity with open-source engineering tools such as OpenFOAM, FreeCAD, and CalculiX would be a significant advantage. Experience with SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS, or other CAD/CAE platforms is also welcome.
What makes this opportunity particularly exciting is that you will work on real-world medical device R&D projects, with a particular focus on vascular stents, airway stents, and other innovative medical technologies.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to engineering activities across the product development lifecycle, including: Medical device design: 3D CAD modelling, component design, and geometry optimization for stents and other medical devices.
Computational simulations: Computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA), structural mechanics, and fluid–structure interaction (FSI), depending on project requirements.Open-source engineering: Working with tools such as OpenFOAM, FreeCAD, and CalculiX for simulation and design analysis.
Prototyping and testing: Supporting 3D printing, prototype development, mechanical testing, and design validation.Engineering analysis: Evaluating structural integrity, deformation, flow behaviour, and mechanical performance to support medical device development.This is not a theoretical internship or an isolated academic exercise.
You will have the opportunity to work on actual medical device development challenges, applying mechanical engineering principles and computational tools to translate innovative concepts into functional prototypes.
We are particularly interested in candidates who enjoy solving complex engineering problems, are comfortable learning independently, and are enthusiastic about applying engineering to healthcare innovation.
