Job Profile: COBOL Developer
Location: Chennai, India
Experience: 5 years
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the Core Banking IT team.The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in COBOL, UNIX, SQL, Oracle Database, and PL/SQL, along with experience in application development, maintenance, and L3 production support. The candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, adapting to changing business requirements, and collaborating with large development and support teams.
Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and support applications using COBOL, UNIX, and SQL.
Perform application development, maintenance, enhancement, and production support activities.
Provide L3 support and resolve technical issues and support tickets.
Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Perform monitoring and event-related activities, troubleshoot issues, and ensure application stability.
Work with Oracle Database and PL/SQL for database operations and data management.
Conduct unit testing and integration testing and follow test-driven development (TDD) practices where applicable.
Collaborate with development and support teams to analyze requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Participate in Agile development processes and adapt to changing business needs.
Follow change management processes and established coding standards.
Use tools such as AutoSys, JIRA, ServiceNow, and SQL Developer to support development and maintenance activities.
Must - Have Qualifications:
· Minimum 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a relevant application development and support role.
· Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, UNIX, and SQL.
· Good knowledge of Oracle Database and PL/SQL.
· Experience in application development, maintenance, and support.
· Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
· Experience with unit testing and integration testing.
· Good understanding of Unix server environments and platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
· Knowledge of CICS
· Familiarity with AutoSys, DevOps tools, ServiceNow, JIRA, and SQL Developer.
· Experience in investment banking or financial services is an added advantage.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a large development or support team.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to learn new tools and technologies and adapt to changing processes.
