WahResume is an AI-powered resume builder that helps job seekers write, tailor, and polish resumes that get interviews. More than 100,000 people have used it. We’re a small, founder-led team at Cocowah Ltd., based in Toronto, and we’re now expanding into B2B with WahResume Coach, a portal that lets career coaches, employment-services organizations, and universities guide their candidates through the job search.
We started WahResume because tailoring a resume for every application is tedious and stressful. Our goal is to make job seekers feel confident and in control, and design is central to that.
The role
You’ll be our first dedicated designer and will work directly with the founder, who is a product designer and design technologist. You’ll own the end-to-end experience across both the consumer product and the new Coach platform, from early research through to shipped, polished UI.
This role suits someone who likes ambiguity, moves quickly, and cares about craft and outcomes in equal measure.
What you’ll do
Own product design for the WahResume resume builder and the WahResume Coach B2B portal
Design AI-powered experiences, including our AI chat coach, that feel trustworthy, helpful, and human
Design the coach and admin workflows for career centres and placement organizations, such as candidate management, progress tracking, and feedback
Improve onboarding, activation, and conversion through research, experiments, and data
Evolve and maintain our design system, which is built on shadcn/ui and Tailwind
Work closely with engineering in a code-first environment: prototype, review implementation, and sweat the details
Talk to users regularly, including job seekers, coaches, and institutional buyers, and turn what you learn into product decisions
What we’re looking for
5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio of shipped work on web products
Strong interaction design, visual design, and systems thinking
Experience designing for both B2C and B2B, or the ability to balance individual users with organizational buyers
Comfort working with data, metrics, and experiments to guide design
Clear communication and the ability to defend design decisions with reasoning
Self-direction: you can take a fuzzy problem and run with it
Nice to have
Experience designing AI or LLM-powered features (chat interfaces, generative content, prompt-driven workflows)
Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, Tailwind, or React, or comfort prototyping in code
Familiarity with shadcn/ui or similar component systems
Background in HR tech, edtech, career services, or recruiting
Early-stage startup experience
