Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, perform work from within CONUS, and successfully complete GPO Public Trust security vetting.
Role: Provide senior database administration, development, maintenance, and operational support for GPO's SQL Server environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Create, configure, administer, and maintain standalone and clustered SQL Server databases.
Diagnose database and application integration issues; lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and incident resolution.
Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive health monitoring.
Maintain high availability, backup/restoration, and disaster recovery capabilities; plan and validate recovery and failover procedures.
Execute software upgrades, patching, server maintenance, and approved change requests.
Maintain database security and compliance; support continuity-of-operations activities.
Manage ServiceNow tickets through resolution and provide weekly activity reports.
Establish administration standards, automation practices, and operational documentation.
Required Qualifications
Minimum eight years of experience in the required database disciplines, with demonstrated SQL Server expertise.
Hands-on experience with SQL, SQL Server, SQL clustering, and SQL scripting.
Demonstrated proficiency in database provisioning, performance tuning, backup/restoration, HA/DR, security, and incident management.
Ability to work independently, collaborate across teams, and communicate with staff and management.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional SQL Server certification.
Experience with Idera, SolarWinds, ServiceNow, and cloud database environments.
Experience supporting PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MS Access, and database-related application integrations.
