CommerceEdge is building a technology services business focused on B2B commerce engineering for distributors, wholesalers, and manufacturers in North America.
We help businesses modernize their digital commerce operations through commerce platforms, system integrations, custom software, and practical engineering solutions.
We’re looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to help build our engineering capabilities from the ground up. This is an opportunity to take ownership of technical decisions, work directly with business leadership, establish engineering standards, and help build a team that delivers real business outcomes.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys solving complex problems, writing code, mentoring engineers, and taking responsibility for the bigger picture.
What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership
* Own technical architecture and engineering decisions across client projects.
* Lead the design and development of scalable B2B commerce solutions.
* Establish standards for code quality, testing, security, performance, and deployment.
* Evaluate technology stacks, frameworks, and tools based on business requirements.
Hands-on Engineering
* Remain actively involved in coding, code reviews, debugging, and technical problem-solving.
* Build and integrate commerce platforms, APIs, ERP/CRM systems, and other business applications.
* Help turn complex business requirements into practical, maintainable technical solutions.
* Guide implementation from initial discovery through development, deployment, and ongoing support.
Team Building
* Help recruit, mentor, and develop the initial engineering team in Bangalore.
* Establish effective development workflows, documentation practices, and engineering processes.
* Build a culture of accountability, continuous learning, collaboration, and high-quality execution.
Client and Business Collaboration
* Work with business leadership and client stakeholders in North America.
* Contribute to technical discovery, solution design, effort estimation, and project planning.
* Explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
* Help identify opportunities to improve delivery quality, client outcomes, and business growth.
What We’re Looking For
* 3+ years of software engineering experience, with meaningful experience leading technical projects or engineers.
* Strong software design fundamentals and experience building production-grade applications.
* Experience with APIs, system integrations, databases, cloud infrastructure, and modern development practices.
* Experience with one or more commerce platforms, such as Adobe Commerce / Magento, Shopify, or other enterprise eCommerce platforms.
* Familiarity with ERP, CRM, inventory, order management, or other enterprise business systems is a plus.
* Ability to make sound architectural decisions while remaining pragmatic about budgets, timelines, and maintainability.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work with distributed teams and North American clients.
* A builder’s mindset: comfortable working in an early-stage environment where processes and teams are still being established.
Experience with B2B commerce, distribution, wholesale, or manufacturing systems is particularly valuable.
