The role converts inspection history, engineering recommendations, equipment drawings, and project scope into practical procedures, work packages, schedules, and execution plans.
Working closely with engineering, field service, and project teams, the successful candidate will apply rotating-equipment experience to define work methods, identify technical risks, support site assessments, and help resolve issues encountered during execution.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop detailed technical execution plans for steam turbine disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, testing, and return-to-service activities.
· Review drawings, manuals, prior outage reports, inspection findings, engineering recommendations, and equipment history.
· Develop job procedures, work packages, inspection plans, technical checklists, hold points, and turnover documentation.
· Support outage scope development, work breakdown structures, task sequencing, labour-hour estimates, schedules, tooling plans, and contingency planning.
· Participate in site walk-downs and planning meetings to confirm equipment condition, access, lifting requirements, tooling, interfaces, and site constraints.
· Provide technical support to field teams during project execution and coordinate issue resolution with engineering and service specialists.
· Assess inspection results and support repair recommendations, disposition planning, and updates to the execution plan.
· Identify required special tooling, consumables, temporary fixtures, technical services, and contingency parts.
· Support technical discussions with customers concerning work scope, findings, risks, recommendations, and execution methods.
· Track technical actions, engineering responses, and project risks, and provide clear progress updates to project leadership.
· Capture lessons learned and recommend improvements to procedures, work packages, equipment designs, and future outage plans.
· Maintain accurate technical records while supporting applicable quality, ISO, safety, and confidentiality requirements.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
· Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
· At least five years of relevant experience with steam turbines or comparable large rotating equipment in power generation, heavy industry, or an original equipment manufacturer environment.
· Demonstrated experience planning or supporting major rotating-equipment inspections, overhauls, repairs, or outages.
· Strong knowledge of rotating-equipment assembly, clearances, fits, alignment, bearings, seals, bolting, lifting, inspection, and repair practices.
· Ability to interpret equipment drawings, technical specifications, inspection reports, engineering documentation, and maintenance procedures.
· Strong practical problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical recommendations using available field information.
· Experience developing technical procedures, job plans, work packages, schedules, and field documentation.
· Ability to work effectively with customers, engineers, field personnel, suppliers, and cross-functional project teams.
· Ability to work safely in industrial environments and travel to customer sites within Canada and, where required, internationally.
· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration or eligibility for registration in a Canadian province is considered an asset.
What We Offer
· Competitive compensation and a comprehensive health and dental benefits program.
· Company retirement savings plan with employer matching.
· Flexible work arrangements based on business, project, and customer-site requirements.
· Technical training, professional development, and opportunities to grow within a global power-generation organization.
