Forbidden Kemono Studio is urgently recruiting for the Tavern Tycoon: Brew & Brawl team as we prepare our playable demo for Steam Next Fest in October 2026.
Open Positions:
• 1 Combat Designer
Tavern Tycoon: Brew & Brawl is a stylized tavern-management game developed in Unreal Engine 5.5. Players manage workers, serve customers, expand their tavern, and defend it during goblin raids.
These team members will not be starting from scratch. The NPC and goblin-raid systems already have some functionality, but they require additional development, debugging, balancing, and polishing before the demo. After Steam Next Fest, these systems will receive further reworking and improvements for the full release.
Combat Designer Priorities:
• Improve and complete the goblin-raid experience
• Design enemy waves, pacing, difficulty, and escalation
• Define goblin roles, behaviors, and encounter variety
• Balance player defenses and combat interactions
• Test encounters and communicate implementation needs to programmers
• Document combat rules and proposed improvements
Combat Designer Requirements:
• Understanding of combat, encounter, and systems design
• Ability to balance enemies, difficulty, pacing, and player options
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Unreal Engine, Blueprint, raid-system, strategy, management, or tower-defense experience is a bonus
These are remote volunteer and revenue-share positions requiring a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week. Applicants must currently reside in the United States or Canada.
Selected applicants will receive a contract explaining their role, expectations, and revenue-share arrangement. Contributors will receive appropriate project credit.
