Contributing Writer / Contributing Editor — Unpaid, Remote

True Crime Story911 Media Group is seeking contributing writers and editors for our Substack, True Crime Story Blog, Patreon, and other publishing partner platforms.
These are unpaid remote contributor opportunities, not internships. Contributors receive published bylines, editorial credit, and the opportunity to build a professional portfolio through work connected to independent, victim-centered true crime journalism.
Open contributor roles:
Contributing Writer — Unpaid
Contributing writers will help develop articles, case coverage, commentary, Substack pieces, blog posts, Patreon content, and other written content connected to missing persons, cold cases, homicide investigations, breaking crime news, and ethical true crime reporting.
Contributing Editor — Unpaid
Contributing editors will help review, polish, fact-check, organize, and strengthen written content before publication. Editors should have a strong eye for clarity, tone, structure, grammar, accuracy, and responsible storytelling.
Ideal contributors are:
Strong writers, editors, journalism students, media students, freelancers, or emerging storytellers
Interested in true crime, public-interest journalism, victim advocacy, missing persons coverage, or long-form digital media
Careful with facts, tone, sourcing, and sensitive subject matter
Able to meet deadlines and communicate clearly
Comfortable working with blog, newsletter, Patreon, and digital publishing content
Committed to ethical, non-sensational storytelling
