UAV Aerostructures, Carbon Fibres Composites and Rapid Prototyping

We are looking for a hands-on engineer to support the design, fabrication and prototype development of an advanced high-altitude fixed-wing UAV.
Responsibilities
Design and analyse lightweight airframe structures (wing spars, ribs, fuselage, joints) in carbon fibre and other composites
Run basic structural analysis (hand calculations, load cases, margins of safety, and FEA where it helps) to size and validate parts
Create and maintain CAD models and manufacturing drawings
Prepare files for CNC and laser cutting (ribs, bulkheads, templates, jigs)
Source materials: CF rods, tubes, fabrics and cloth, resins, core materials, and hardware
Raise purchase orders, compare quotes, negotiate with vendors, and manage lead times and budgets
Work directly with manufacturers and workshops to get parts made, and give feedback on manufacturability
Support layup, assembly, and structural testing (coupon tests, load tests)
Document designs, test results, and decisions
Preferred profile
Degree (M.Tech or equivalent) in aerospace, mechanical, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
Solid fundamentals in structures: beam theory, loads, stress, buckling
Working knowledge of a CAD tool (SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360, or similar)
Basic FEA exposure (ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, or similar)
Basic understanding of composite materials (CF rods, tubes, fabrics) and how they behave
Comfort handling procurement: talking to suppliers, chasing quotes, placing orders
Strong curiosity and a willingness to learn and engage in meaningful discussions
Nice to have
· Experience with composite layup, vacuum bagging, or bonding
· Familiarity with CNC and laser cutting processes and how to design parts for them
· Experience with UAVs, gliders, RC aircraft, or any build-heavy project (student teams like SAE/DBF count)
· Knowledge of airworthiness or design standards
· Python or scripting for automating calculations
