Junior QA Engineer

About the Role
A fintech startup partner are looking for a QA Engineer with experience in AI-powered QA automation to help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our software, AI applications, and automated workflows.
You will design and execute testing strategies that combine traditional quality assurance with AI-driven testing and workflow automation. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and AI teams to identify bugs, validate system behavior, and build automated tests that improve product quality and reduce manual testing effort.
The ideal candidate understands software testing fundamentals, enjoys solving technical problems, and is comfortable experimenting with AI tools to make testing faster, smarter, and more efficient.
Key Responsibilities1. Quality Assurance and Testing
Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for web applications, APIs, AI systems, and automated workflows.
Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
Identify, document, prioritize, and track bugs and inconsistencies through resolution.
Validate application behavior across browsers, devices, environments, and user scenarios.
Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues, investigate root causes, and verify fixes.
Maintain clear documentation of test coverage, test results, and quality risks.
2. Test Automation
Design, build, and maintain automated testing frameworks and reusable test scripts.
Automate repetitive testing activities to improve testing speed, consistency, and coverage.
Develop end-to-end tests for critical user journeys and business processes.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing.
Monitor test execution, troubleshoot flaky tests, and improve automation reliability.
Evaluate opportunities to replace manual testing with scalable automated solutions.
3. AI-Powered Testing and Automation
Use AI coding assistants and testing tools to accelerate test case generation, script development, debugging, and test maintenance.
Build AI-assisted workflows for test planning, test data generation, bug triage, and quality reporting.
Evaluate AI-generated test cases and scripts for correctness, completeness, and reliability.
Test AI-powered features, including LLM outputs, prompt-based workflows, tool calling, and multi-step AI agents.
Develop test scenarios for hallucinations, inconsistent outputs, edge cases, prompt injection, and unexpected model behavior.
Validate AI automation workflows for accuracy, repeatability, failure handling, and appropriate human oversight.
Explore tools and frameworks that combine traditional automation with LLM-based testing.
4. API and Integration Testing
Test APIs, webhooks, third-party integrations, and backend workflows.
Validate request and response payloads, authentication, error handling, and data consistency.
Test interactions between AI models, external services, databases, and application components.
Identify integration failures, latency issues, and unexpected system behavior.
Use API testing tools to validate system functionality independently of the user interface.
5. Quality Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
Establish quality metrics, test coverage standards, and release-readiness criteria.
Analyze recurring defects and recommend preventive measures.
Track defect rates, automation coverage, regression failures, and escaped bugs.
Improve testing processes through tooling, documentation, and workflow optimization.
Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, release testing, and retrospectives.
Help establish best practices for testing AI-enabled products and automation systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2+ years of experience in software QA, test automation, or software engineering.
Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent tools.
Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
Experience testing web applications, APIs, and integrated software systems.
Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or equivalent solutions.
Understanding of software development lifecycles, bug tracking, regression testing, and CI/CD concepts.
Practical experience using AI tools to improve testing, debugging, or software development workflows.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and work collaboratively with engineering and product teams.
Nice to Have
Experience testing LLM-powered applications, AI agents, or multi-step AI workflows.
Familiarity with AI evaluation frameworks such as promptfoo, DeepEval, or Ragas.
Experience with workflow automation platforms such as n8n, Zapier, or Make.
Knowledge of LLM APIs, structured outputs, function calling, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
Experience with Docker, Git, GitHub Actions, or other CI/CD tools.
Familiarity with load testing, performance testing, and application security testing.
Experience with observability tools, automated logging, and failure monitoring.
Understanding of AI safety, data privacy, and prompt injection risks.
