Opening of PhD position under Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme

Advertisement for the post of Research Fellow (Full Time) in the VISVESVARAYA Ph.D. Scheme: Phase II (2026-27)
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the post of 1 (one) Full Time Research Fellow under the VISVESVARAYA Ph.D. Scheme for Electronics and IT: Phase II (2026-27). The scheme, initiated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, provides financial support to Ph.D. candidates and young faculty members for doing research in the field of Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) and IT/IT Enabled Services (IT/ITES) sectors in India.
The details are as follows:
Position: Research Fellow (01) Full- Time
Title of the project work: Development of an Embedded Optoelectronic Fluorescence Sensor Platform for Rapid Detection of Environmental Contaminants
Eligibility: The eligibility of the candidate will be as per IKGPTU Ph.D. regulations 2022 as per following: GATE / NET qualified candidates with ME/M-Tech in Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Applied Electronics / Instrumentation & Control Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Equivalent specialized branches / M.Sc. in Chemistry or equivalent specialized branches with minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.5 on 10-point Scale) in the qualifying examination i.e. ME/M-Tech/ M.Sc.
NET / GATE may be exempted for those who have cleared IKGPTU PhD entrance test 2026 followed by interview.
Desirable Qualifications / Experiences: The Candidate from relevant background will be preferred.
Fellowship: Rs. 46,250/- per month+ HRA in 1st & 2nd year and 52,500/- per month+ HRA 3rd, 4th and 5th years of Ph.D. (Support till Ph.D. completion or 5 years whichever earlier).*
Duration: 1 Year, extendable up to 5 years, subject to satisfactory performance and continuation of the scheme/project. The appointment shall be co-terminus with the project.
Walk-in-Interview
Eligible candidates can appear for walk-in-interview on October 19, 2026 at 02.00pm in the Office of Dean R & D, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar-Kapurthala Highway, Kapurthala.
Scanned copy of the completely filled and signed Application form along with supporting scanned documents need to be sent through email to dean_rd@ptu.ac.in on or before October 18, 2026.
Candidates appearing for the Walk-in Interview shall also bring the print copy of the application
form along with self-attested copies of all supporting documents and the original documents for
verification at the time of the interview.
