Commercial Analyst

Role Description The Commercial Analyst role is a part-time remote position focused on supporting Solar Community’s commercial decision-making and growth initiatives. In this role, the Commercial Analyst will analyze sales data, project performance, and market trends to identify opportunities for revenue optimization and cost efficiency. Day-to-day responsibilities include building and maintaining financial and commercial models, preparing reports and dashboards for leadership, and evaluating pricing, margins, and contract terms for commercial projects. The Commercial Analyst will collaborate with finance, sales, operations, and customer-facing teams to provide insight into commercial performance and support strategic planning. This role also involves preparing clear presentations and recommendations, responding to ad hoc analysis requests, and ensuring data accuracy and consistency across systems.
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills, including data analysis, modeling, and problem-solving, with the ability to interpret complex information and provide actionable insights.
Commercial acumen, including understanding of pricing, margins, contracts, and market dynamics in a B2B or energy-related environment.
Finance skills, such as budgeting, forecasting, basic accounting concepts, and familiarity with financial statements and key performance indicators.
Effective communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders, and create concise reports and presentations.
Customer service mindset, with the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders, understand business needs, and respond promptly and professionally.
Proficiency with spreadsheets and analytical tools (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets; experience with BI tools or CRM systems is a plus).
Prior experience in commercial analysis, finance, business analytics, or a related field; exposure to renewable energy or utilities is beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
