IT Support Specialis

Role Description The IT Support Specialist (part-time, remote) will provide technical assistance to staff and contributors using Daily Punorutthan’s digital platforms and tools. Daily tasks include responding to help desk requests, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, and providing guidance on connectivity, user accounts, and basic security practices. The role involves supporting desktop and laptop environments, resolving issues with productivity tools, and coordinating with content and editorial teams to ensure uninterrupted access to systems used for news production and distribution. The specialist will document common issues and solutions, maintain accurate records of support requests, and suggest improvements to workflows and system stability. This role requires reliable availability during agreed-upon hours and clear communication with a geographically dispersed team.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Technical Support and Help Desk Support skills for assisting remote users and resolving day-to-day issues.
Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting and Desktop Computers skills for diagnosing hardware, software, and configuration problems.
Candidates should possess broad Information Technology knowledge, including operating systems, common office applications, and basic networking concepts.
Candidates should possess clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members.
Candidates should possess strong time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote, part-time capacity.
Relevant experience in media or digital content environments, familiarity with security best practices, and a diploma or degree in IT or a related field are beneficial.
