Through effective collaboration, innovative design solutions, and rigorous quality control, we aim to create interior spaces that enhance user experience while meeting project requirements, budget expectations, and applicable United Arab Emirates regulations.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to lead interior design development, coordinate design deliverables, and oversee the integration of interior concepts with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and construction requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in space planning, conceptual design, material and finish selection, design presentations, technical documentation, construction coordination, and project design management.
This role will focus on translating client requirements and project briefs into innovative, practical, and high-quality interior design solutions. The Senior Interior Designer will collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through procurement, construction, installation, and final handover.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of interior design concepts for residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, office, and other construction-related projects.
Interpret client briefs, project objectives, functional requirements, and aesthetic preferences to establish appropriate interior design directions.
Develop design concepts that balance creativity, usability, technical feasibility, budget constraints, and project schedules.
Prepare design narratives, mood boards, visual references, concept presentations, and material inspiration boards.
Establish design themes, color palettes, material strategies, lighting concepts, furniture selections, and finish specifications.
Develop space planning layouts that optimize functionality, circulation, accessibility, comfort, and spatial efficiency.
Evaluate alternative design solutions and present recommendations based on aesthetics, performance, cost, durability, and maintenance requirements.
Lead the preparation and coordination of schematic design, design development, and detailed design packages.
Produce and review floor plans, furniture layouts, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, sections, and interior detailing drawings.
Coordinate interior design documentation with architectural drawings, structural requirements, and building services layouts.
Ensure that interior design proposals align with approved project briefs, client expectations, design standards, and contractual requirements.
Develop detailed interior design specifications for finishes, fixtures, furniture, equipment, and decorative elements.
Select suitable flooring, wall finishes, ceiling systems, joinery materials, hardware, decorative surfaces, and other interior components.
Evaluate material samples, finish boards, product data sheets, and supplier submissions to verify compliance with design intent.
Research furniture, lighting fixtures, decorative accessories, textiles, and interior products that meet project-specific performance and aesthetic criteria.
Identify appropriate materials and products based on durability, availability, lead times, sustainability, maintenance, and lifecycle cost.
Prepare furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) schedules and coordinate relevant specifications with procurement teams.
Develop custom furniture, cabinetry, millwork, joinery, and built-in storage concepts where required.
Coordinate detailed joinery drawings, fabrication requirements, installation constraints, and finish quality expectations.
Review shop drawings and material submittals submitted by contractors, fabricators, and suppliers.
Verify that proposed substitutions maintain the approved design intent, functional performance, quality, and relevant technical requirements.
Collaborate with architects and engineers to resolve spatial conflicts, ceiling coordination issues, service access constraints, and design interface challenges.
Coordinate interior lighting layouts with electrical and lighting consultants to support the intended atmosphere, functionality, and visual comfort.
Work with mechanical and electrical teams to integrate air-conditioning outlets, sprinklers, detectors, lighting fixtures, switches, sockets, and other building services into interior layouts.
Coordinate wet-area layouts, sanitary fittings, plumbing interfaces, waterproofing details, and finish transitions with relevant technical disciplines.
Review accessibility requirements, circulation widths, door clearances, and other spatial considerations in accordance with applicable regulations.
Incorporate fire and life safety considerations into interior layouts, including escape routes, fire-rated elements, material requirements, and access to safety equipment.
Ensure that specified finishes and interior products meet relevant fire performance, indoor air quality, durability, and safety requirements.
Consider acoustic performance, lighting quality, thermal comfort, privacy, and user wellbeing when developing interior design solutions.
Integrate sustainable design principles through responsible material selection, efficient space utilization, durable finishes, and reduced material waste.
Evaluate environmentally preferable products and materials where suitable options are available and consistent with project requirements.
Use computer-aided design (CAD), building information modeling (BIM), and three-dimensional visualization tools to develop, review, and communicate design proposals.
Prepare realistic renderings, perspectives, walkthroughs, and presentation materials to help clients and project stakeholders understand proposed spaces.
Review three-dimensional models and design documentation for consistency, dimensional accuracy, and coordination with other disciplines.
Maintain accurate design files, drawing registers, revision histories, material schedules, and project documentation.
Establish and maintain interior design standards, drawing conventions, presentation templates, and quality review procedures.
Lead design coordination meetings and communicate design decisions, outstanding issues, and required actions to project stakeholders.
Present design concepts, material options, layout alternatives, and design development proposals to clients and senior management.
Gather client feedback, clarify design expectations, and incorporate approved comments into subsequent design iterations.
Manage design revisions and assess their potential effects on scope, budget, procurement, construction sequencing, and delivery milestones.
Evaluate design changes against contractual requirements and ensure that approvals are obtained before implementation.
Coordinate with project managers to establish design deliverables, submission dates, review periods, and project milestones.
Monitor design progress and identify potential delays, coordination issues, and resource constraints that could affect project delivery.
Support project budgeting by preparing material estimates, finish comparisons, furniture allowances, and preliminary design cost assessments.
Collaborate with quantity surveyors and commercial teams to evaluate design options against cost plans and approved budgets.
Identify opportunities for value engineering while preserving critical design features, quality standards, and functional requirements.
Review proposed cost-saving measures and substitutions for their effects on aesthetics, durability, maintenance, and long-term performance.
