1. Job Title
Wastewater Treatment Proposal Engineer – STP / ETP / WTP / RO
2. Job Purpose
To prepare technically accurate and commercially competitive proposals for wastewater treatment and water treatment projects. The candidate will coordinate with sales, design, procurement and project execution teams to develop cost estimates, technical offers, BOQs and project proposals.
3. Key Roles and Responsibilities
A. Technical Proposal Preparation
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals for STP, ETP, WTP, RO and wastewater recycling plants.
- Study client enquiries, tender documents and technical specifications.
- Understand wastewater analysis reports and treatment requirements.
- Prepare process descriptions, treatment schemes and preliminary PFDs.
- Select suitable treatment technologies based on project requirements.
- Prepare technical datasheets and equipment specifications.
B. Cost Estimation and BOQ
- Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and equipment lists.
- Calculate project costs for equipment, piping, electrical, instrumentation and installation.
- Obtain quotations from vendors and suppliers.
- Prepare CAPEX estimates and, where required, operating cost estimates.
- Calculate project margins and prepare commercial offers in coordination with management.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising technical requirements.
C. Tendering and Documentation
- Review government, industrial and private-sector tenders.
- Prepare technical bid documents and commercial bid submissions.
- Prepare compliance statements against client specifications.
- Compile technical datasheets, company credentials and supporting documents.
- Track submission deadlines and tender clarifications.
D. Coordination with Internal Teams
- Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to understand client requirements.
- Work with design engineers to obtain drawings, calculations and technical inputs.
- Coordinate with procurement teams for vendor quotations.
- Discuss technical deviations and clarifications with clients.
- Support the project execution team during handover after order confirmation.
E. Client and Sales Support
- Attend technical meetings with clients and consultants.
- Provide technical presentations and product explanations.
- Support sales teams during negotiations and technical discussions.
- Assist in preparing project-specific technical solutions.
- Maintain a database of proposals, costs, vendors and previous quotations.
4. Required Technical Skills
- Knowledge of STP, ETP, WTP, RO and wastewater recycling technologies.
- Understanding of biological treatment, MBBR, MBR, SBR, activated sludge processes and tertiary treatment.
- Knowledge of filtration, UF, RO, sludge handling and disinfection systems.
- Ability to read P&IDs, process flow diagrams and equipment datasheets.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.
- Experience in BOQ preparation, cost estimation and tender documentation.
5. Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Environmental, Chemical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Diploma holders with relevant wastewater treatment proposal experience may also be considered.
6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Number of proposals submitted per month.
- Accuracy of project costing and BOQ.
- Timely submission of technical and commercial offers.
- Tender compliance and documentation accuracy.
- Proposal-to-order conversion support.
- Gross margin accuracy and reduction of estimation errors.
7. Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience with wastewater treatment plant manufacturers, EPC contractors or environmental engineering companies.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines.
- Willingness to visit client sites in Pune and surrounding industrial areas when required.
- Practical understanding of industrial and commercial wastewater treatment projects.
