Collage Recruitment is partnering with a technology consultancy specialising in data, AI and cloud solutions to hire two senior data engineers into its growing Data and AI practice. You'll work with clients across a range of sectors, building data solutions that drive real value.

The two roles
Senior Data Engineer (7+ years). A delivery-focused role. You'll architect and build robust, scalable batch and real-time streaming pipelines on GCP, lead projects from concept to production, mentor junior engineers and help shape the capability of the Data practice.
Forward Deployed Data Engineer (10+ years). A client-facing role. You'll work directly alongside customers as the tip of the spear: rapidly building POCs, turning them into scalable pilot deliveries, and communicating complex data concepts to everyone from engineering teams to C-level management. You'll design across cloud and on-prem architectures and multiple hyperscalers (Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud).
What both roles need
Exceptional hands-on proficiency in Python, SQL and Apache Spark, plus key Data Management concepts
Deep expertise in GCP data engineering services: BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Dataproc, Cloud Composer and Dataplex
Experience designing resilient batch and streaming pipelines
Deep understanding of diverse data architectures: Hadoop, distributed computing, cloud-native databases, lakehouses and advanced analytics
A strong grasp of both traditional data engineering and modern Generative AI (GenAI) technologies
Experience leading or building Proof of Concepts (POCs)
A Computer Science (or equivalent) degree, or significant proven industry experience
Extra for the Forward Deployed role
10+ years in data engineering, data architecture and enterprise software systems
Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to translate technical architecture into business value for management
Experience across MPP and columnar databases, and both cloud and on-prem environments
A go-getter attitude and the agility to thrive in a customer-facing, forward-deployed environment
