About Engage Compliance
Engage Compliance is an outsourced Data Protection Officer (DPO) and privacy consultancy, based in Amsterdam with offices in London and the US. We are the embedded privacy team for companies that handle personal data, from seed stage to enterprise, across SaaS, FinTech, HealthTech, AI, HR Tech and e-commerce. Our team brings experience across 100+ startups and enterprises including Amazon, Coinbase, and Robinhood. Expert-led and team-delivered: a named practitioner leads every engagement.
The role
We are looking for a highly experienced privacy professional to join us as a fractional DPO on a contract basis. You will start by working alongside our principal DPO on a small portfolio of clients, joining client calls and handling day-to-day privacy work. You will then act as the named DPO for your own clients, own those relationships end to end, and join sales calls as the privacy expert. This is a flexible, part-time contract that grows with our client base.
What you will do
• Act as the named DPO for a portfolio of technology clients
• Join client calls and lead the follow-up work
• Advise clients on privacy, legal, operational and strategic questions, in plain and practical terms
• Deliver core DPO work: records of processing (ROPAs), DPIAs, vendor and DPA reviews, international transfers, privacy notices and data subject requests
• Provide incident and breach support
• Draft and send client communications from your Engage Compliance email
• Keep client records current in our compliance platform
• Join sales calls as the privacy expert, answering prospects' questions and helping scope new engagements
What you bring
• Current or former DPO, with at least 5 years of hands-on privacy experience
• CIPP/E required
• Global privacy experience: GDPR and UK GDPR, plus US state laws and other international regimes
• Consulting or client-facing advisory experience, including advising founders, executives and boards
• Experience building privacy programs and teams
• Practical legal, operational and strategic judgment, not theory
• Comfortable juggling many clients and priorities with minimal direction
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Available during European business hours
What we offer
• Flexible, remote contract work with high-quality technology clients
• Close work with an experienced principal DPO
• Proven templates, tooling and a clear operating playbook
• A path to your own client portfolio
To apply, send your CV and a short note on the most complex privacy matter you have handled for a client.
