UI/UX Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a UI/UX Engineer based in Brazil.
As a UI/UX Engineer, you will bridge product design and front-end development to create intuitive, accessible, and high-quality digital experiences. You will take ownership of product improvements from discovery and user journey mapping through interface design, implementation, and post-launch validation. Working closely with product leaders and engineering teams, you will transform user needs and business goals into polished, responsive, and maintainable solutions. You will contribute to scalable design systems, reusable UI components, and consistent experiences across web and mobile platforms. Accessibility, usability, and performance will be central to your work, alongside a commitment to engineering excellence and continuous improvement. You will also leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate delivery while maintaining high standards for quality, security, and reliability. Accountabilities
Translate business objectives and user needs into intuitive user journeys, workflows, interaction designs, and practical product solutions.
Identify usability issues and areas of friction through user feedback, analytics, usability testing, and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and production-ready designs for new features and existing product improvements.
Design complete user experiences, accounting for loading, empty, error, success, and recovery states while balancing user needs, technical feasibility, and business priorities.
Develop and maintain consistent UI patterns, design systems, and reusable components covering typography, spacing, navigation, forms, colors, and interactions.
Document component behavior, usage guidelines, and accessibility requirements, ensuring implemented components remain aligned with approved designs.
Build responsive front-end interfaces and reusable components using modern web technologies, translating designs into clean, maintainable, production-ready code.
Integrate user interfaces with APIs in collaboration with backend and application engineers, and participate in code reviews and shared development workflows.
Validate implementations against approved designs, acceptance criteria, and intended user experiences, troubleshooting browser compatibility, accessibility, usability, and performance issues.
Incorporate accessibility best practices throughout the design and development lifecycle, including keyboard navigation, focus management, semantic HTML, color contrast, responsive behavior, and compatibility with assistive technologies.
Test critical user journeys across supported browsers and devices, implement appropriate automated checks, and conduct usability reviews before and after product releases.
Collaborate with product leadership to define scope, priorities, success metrics, dependencies, milestones, and acceptance criteria, contributing to project briefs and technical documentation.
Work closely with backend, platform, mobile, product, and engineering teams to maintain consistent experiences across web and native applications.
Use AI coding assistants and agentic development tools to accelerate workflows while independently reviewing generated code for correctness, accessibility, security, usability, and maintainability.
Protect proprietary code, credentials, customer information, and sensitive data when using AI-assisted development tools, remaining accountable for all delivered work.
During the first 90 days, assess priority user journeys, identify design and component inconsistencies, deliver at least one agreed improvement from design through production, and help establish repeatable design review and validation processes.
Measure success through improved user journey completion, reduced friction, delivery against agreed milestones, accessibility, component reuse, implementation quality, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
A strong portfolio demonstrating product design decisions and successfully delivered digital experiences.
Proven experience taking product features from initial user problems through design, implementation, launch, and iteration.
Strong understanding of interaction design, visual design principles, usability, and user-centered product development.
Proficiency in Figma or comparable design, prototyping, and interface design tools.
Strong skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript.
Experience with a modern front-end framework, such as React, Vue, or an equivalent technology.
Demonstrated experience building responsive interfaces and reusable component systems for scalable digital products.
Working knowledge of accessibility standards, inclusive design practices, and practical usability-testing methods.
Experience with Git, version control, pull requests, code reviews, and collaborative documentation workflows.
Ability to communicate design decisions and technical trade-offs clearly to product leaders, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to receive feedback, iterate on solutions, and continuously improve.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver high-quality results within agreed scopes and timelines.
Comfort using AI-assisted development tools, with the judgment to review and validate generated code, maintain design-system consistency, and protect sensitive information.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to balance user experience, business objectives, technical constraints, and delivery expectations.

Experience with consumer-facing social, creator, media, community, or subscription-based products.
Experience designing mobile-first experiences and collaborating with native iOS and Android engineering teams.
Familiarity with onboarding, content discovery, publishing, user engagement, or monetization workflows.
Experience building design systems, maintaining reusable UI libraries, and documenting component behavior.
Knowledge of product analytics, experimentation, and data-informed design decisions.
Experience optimizing front-end performance and improving application responsiveness.
Previous experience working in fast-paced product development environments with evolving priorities.
