Retail Experience Designer

About the Role
WHOOP is seeking a Retail Experience Designer to define and elevate the end-to-end retail experience across our global retail footprint. This role will aid in the development of innovative physical environments, customer journeys, merchandising experiences, and branded retail activations that bring the WHOOP brand to life and create meaningful connections with our members.
Responsibilities
Retail Experience Strategy
• Carry out the vision strategy, and design direction for WHOOP's retail experiences across wholesale, owned retail, shop-in-shop, event, and experiential environments.
• Develop customer-centric retail concepts that drive engagement, product education, conversion, and brand affinity.
• Help establish design principles, standards, and frameworks that ensure consistency and scalability across global retail channels.
• identify opportunities to enhance the customer journey through innovative physical and digital touchpoints.
Experience Design & Innovation
• Design and develop retail environments, fixtures, displays, merchandising systems, and experiential activations within architectural spaces that elevate the WHOOP brand.
• Create customer journey maps, experience blueprints, and spatial narratives that connect brand storytelling with customer needs.
• Explore emerging trends, materials, technologies and experiential design practices to continuously evolve the retail experience.
• Prototype, test. and refine concepts using innovative material development, customer feedback, and retail insights.
Architectural & Spatial Design Leadership
• Apply architectural and environmental design expertise to space planning, customer flow, material selection. detailing, and retail environment development
• Lead the design process from concept through execution, ensuring design integrity is maintained throughout implementation.
• Review architectural drawings, design documentation, prototypes, and fabrication details to ensure alignment with design intent and brand standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner closely with Brand, Product Marketing, Retail Operations, Merchandising, Creative, and Product teams to align retail experiences with business objectives.
• Collaborate with external agencies. architects, fabricators, and production partners to bring concepts to life.
• Present design concepts, strategies, and recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
• influence decision making through customer insights, design rationale, and performance metrics.
Qualifications
Required
• Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) from an accredited institution.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in retail design, experiential design, architecture, environmental design, or branded environments.
• Proven experience leading complex retail experience projects. from strategy and concept development through execution.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise In retail environments, spatial storytelling, experiential design, and customer-centered solutions.
• Deep understanding of architectural detailing, materials, fabrication methods, and construction processes.
• Exceptional visual communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills with experience working across
multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on design execution in a fast-paced
environment.
• Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging Al tools in the design process while
maintaining the highest standards of creativity, quality, and design integrity.
Preferred
• Experience designing flagship stores, shop-in-shops, pop-up experiences, wellness
environments, or experiential brand activations.
• Experience working with premium consumer, technology, fitness, wellness, or lifestyle
brands.
• Knowledge of retail operations, visual merchandising, fixture development, and omnichannel customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Rhino, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Keyshot, and
other visualization tools.

bachelor or masters degree in design related fields
Successful Candidate will work remotely from Hong Kong, whilst WHOOP's design team is headquartered in Boston, MA, USA. He/she will report directly to our Design Lead, Felix, also based in Hong Kong. Because of the time zone difference, there will be a requirement to align with Boston time for handovers and meetings occasionally.
