About Lumov
Lumov is a venture-backed healthcare startup building India's leading pain management and orthopaedic solutions brand. Our portfolio spans orthopaedic supports, rehabilitation products, mobility aids and everyday wellness solutions, serving consumers through hospitals, distributors, retail and leading e-commerce platforms.
Founded by Harvard Business School and IIT Kharagpur alumni with deep investing experience in Indian healthcare, Lumov offers an opportunity to build a category-defining healthcare company from the ground up in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Manager – People & Operations to build and run Lumov's People function end to end.
You will own the full employee lifecycle — onboarding, leave and attendance, policies, compliance, hiring, performance reviews and retention — across every part of the company: sales and non-sales teams, field and central office. Talent acquisition is a core part of this role, and you will be a key partner to the founders in building the team that scales Lumov.
Just as importantly, you will be the custodian of Lumov's work environment — making sure it stays professional, fair, high-performing and friendly as we grow.
Key Responsibilities
1. Talent Acquisition
· Own end-to-end recruitment across all functions — sales, marketing, operations, design, brand, finance and central office.
· Work with founders and functional heads to plan manpower requirements and prioritise open roles.
· Build strong talent pipelines through job portals, referrals, recruitment partners, campus and social channels.
· Conduct screening and first-round interviews; coordinate interview processes and closures with hiring managers.
· Manage offers, negotiations, reference and background checks, and drive offer-to-joining conversion.
· Track hiring TAT, funnel metrics, source quality, offer-to-joining and early attrition.
· Build Lumov's employer brand so that great people want to work here.
2. Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle
· Own the employee lifecycle from offer to exit.
· Build structured onboarding programs so every new joiner is productive, informed and well-integrated from day one.
· Manage employee records, joining documentation, ID/asset assignment and payroll inputs.
· Run confirmations, role changes, transfers and exit formalities, including full-and-final and exit interviews.
3. Leave, Attendance & Team Tracking
· Own leave management and tracking across teams — sales, non-sales and central office.
· Implement and maintain systems for attendance, leave and working-pattern tracking, including for distributed and field teams.
· Ensure accurate, timely inputs to payroll and clean leave and attendance records.
· Maintain HR MIS and dashboards covering headcount, hiring, attendance, leave, attrition and performance.
4. Policies & Compliance
· Develop, document and roll out HR policies — leave, attendance, code of conduct, travel/expense, remote work and others.
· Ensure statutory compliance, including PF, ESI, gratuity, professional tax, shops & establishment and other applicable labour laws.
· Coordinate with lawyers, auditors, payroll and compliance partners; keep the company audit-ready.
· Handle employee queries, grievances, POSH and disciplinary processes with fairness and confidentiality.
5. Performance, Reviews & Retention
· Design and run the performance review and appraisal cycle across the organization.
· Work with functional heads to define role-specific KPIs and goals.
· Support promotions, increments, incentives, PIPs and other people decisions with clear process and documentation.
· Track attrition, understand why people leave, and drive retention initiatives.
· Identify capability gaps and coordinate learning and development.
6. Culture & Work Environment
· Build and maintain a high-performing, respectful and friendly work environment.
· Drive employee engagement through regular check-ins, feedback loops, team events and recognition.
· Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers, and flag people risks early to the founders.
· Keep processes simple and efficient — structure without unnecessary bureaucracy.
What We Are Looking For
Must Have
· 3–5 years of experience in HR, People Operations, Talent Acquisition, HRBP or a similar generalist role.
· Strong hands-on experience in end-to-end hiring across multiple functions.
· Working knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance (PF, ESI, gratuity, POSH, etc.).
· Experience building or running onboarding, leave and attendance, performance review and employee lifecycle processes.
· Comfortable with HRMS, payroll inputs, Excel/Google Sheets and people dashboards.
· Strong communication, empathy and stakeholder-management skills, with the judgement to handle sensitive situations.
· High ownership and the ability to build processes independently in a fast-growing startup.
Preferred Background
Experience in a startup or high-growth company, and exposure to managing people processes across multiple teams, locations or a mix of field and office staff, will be a strong advantage. Backgrounds in healthcare, medical devices, FMCG, consumer products or D2C are relevant but not mandatory.
What Success Looks Like
In the first 6–12 months, you will help Lumov build:
A predictable hiring engine
Faster hiring → better candidate quality → lower early attrition
A clean People operating system
Onboarding → leave & attendance → policies → compliance → clean MIS
A structured performance system
Clear KPIs → regular reviews → timely feedback → better retention
A healthy, high-performing culture
Trust → engagement → fairness → a team people want to stay in
Ultimately, you will help build a culture where the right people are hired, onboarded well, held accountable and given the opportunity to grow.
The Kind of Person Who Will Do Well Here
· Enjoys building systems and processes from scratch.
· Comfortable in a fast-moving startup.
· Detail-oriented and execution-oriented, without losing sight of people.
· Equally comfortable with spreadsheets and with hard conversations.
· Uses data to identify and solve people problems.
· Can earn the trust of both leadership and employees at every level.
· Takes ownership rather than waiting for instructions.
This is a high-ownership role with significant interaction with the founders and the opportunity to build Lumov's People function from the ground up.
