We’re building Everly to close that distance. A companion that keeps an aging parent company, remembers the details of their life — the names of their grandchildren, the recipe they taught you, the joke they always tell — and checks in when you can’t. Built so the people we love stay genuinely close, not just connected.
We’re a small founding team, building something we truly believe will let more people grow old with company instead of loneliness. It’s a big, hard, deeply human problem — and it’s exactly the kind of thing worth getting up to work on.
Everly gives older parents a warm voice companion that speaks in a family member’s own voice, and brings their stories and everyday moments back to the family. We’re live on the App Store and Google Play, with users in the US, Hong Kong, and mainland China.
The role
You’ll join our tech team and work directly with the tech lead on the Everly app. This is hands-on work on a live product: real features, real bug fixes, real users. You’ll be in the room for everything — not fetching coffee.
What you’ll own
Mobile features — build and polish features in our mobile app (React Native / Expo, TypeScript).
Backend work — help with backend development (Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL).
Bug triage — reproduce, investigate, and fix bugs reported by testers and users.
Device testing — test new builds on real devices and write clear notes on what you find.
Quality — write and maintain automated checks and short technical docs.
What you bring
Fluent, daily use of an AI coding agent (Claude Code or Codex) — you can direct it, review what it writes, and take responsibility for the result.
Comfortable with Git and GitHub: branches, pull requests, code review.
Working knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
Clear written communication in English.
Experience with React Native, Expo, or any mobile development.
Experience with FastAPI, REST APIs, or SQL.
Interest in voice AI or LLM products (speech recognition, text-to-speech, prompting).
Nice-to-have: Reads and writes Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese); our product is trilingual.

Details
Part-time (15–20 hrs/wk) or full-time — shaped around the right person.
Title: Software Engineering Intern
Full-time remote (remote-first), with overlap on Hong Kong working hours.
3–6 months, with a path to a full-time role for the right person.
Day-to-day also includes coordinating small projects, collaborating with product and marketing team members, and contributing to sales and partnership outreach as needed.
