Build a Quality Legacy at Hexcel
At Hexcel, quality is more than compliance. It is the foundation of products that enable the world's most advanced aerospace and industrial applications.
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on our manufacturing operations, shaping processes, strengthening quality systems, and influencing the way we work across the business. This is an ideal opportunity for a quality or manufacturing professional who thrives in complex industrial environments and wants to apply their experience to drive meaningful improvements within a global leader in advanced composites technology.
Whether your background comes from aerospace, automotive, industrial manufacturing, assembly-line production, or other highly regulated sectors, this role offers the chance to bring proven skills, challenge existing thinking, and help create the next generation of manufacturing excellence at Hexcel.
With our strong investment in research and development and our culture of continuous improvement, Hexcel is the industry leader in the manufacturing of advanced lightweight composite materials, including carbon fibre, woven reinforcements, resins, prepregs, honeycombs, engineered core and composite structures. We invite you to join the Hexcel team at our Duxford site and become part of the "strength within."
About the Role
As Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting quality excellence across manufacturing operations. Working closely with production, engineering, customers and suppliers, you will utilise your technical expertise and process mindset to identify opportunities for improvement, resolve complex quality issues, and ensure compliance within a large-scale composite manufacturing environment.
We're looking for someone who understands how manufacturing processes work from end-to-end, can identify risks and gaps before they become problems, and has the curiosity and analytical capability to investigate issues thoroughly and drive sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Support internal, external and customer audits, ensuring compliance with QMS, regulatory and customer requirements.
Lead and support non-conformance investigations, corrective actions and preventive improvement activities.
Conduct robust root cause investigations and facilitate effective product and process issue resolution.
Provide technical interpretation of specifications and quality requirements, supporting disposition decisions.
Partner with manufacturing teams to improve process performance, product quality and operational efficiency.
Monitor, analyse and interpret quality data and KPIs to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
Apply quality tools and methodologies to resolve issues and strengthen manufacturing processes.
Produce and maintain PPAP documentation where required.
Manage customer quality communications in a professional and timely manner.
Support supplier quality activities and audits where required.
Identify better ways of working and contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of Hexcel's Quality Management System.
What We're Looking For
Degree qualified in Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Proven experience within Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering or a similar role in manufacturing settings such as aerospace, automotive, advanced manufacturing, heavy engineering, assembly-line production or sheet metal fabrication.
Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, with experience working to AS9100, NADCAP or similar regulated standards.
A deep understanding of manufacturing processes, process controls, inputs, outputs and quality assurance principles.
Experience supporting audits, quality investigations, customer requirements and compliance activities.
Knowledge of supplier quality management or supplier auditing would be advantageous.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interrogate data, identify trends and make evidence-based decisions.
A naturally curious mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions, evaluate multiple solutions and drive continuous improvement.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of quality and attention to detail.
Why Join Hexcel?
This is more than a quality role. It is an opportunity to apply your expertise to highly engineered composite material products, influence how manufacturing excellence is delivered, and make a tangible difference in a business that values innovation, continuous improvement and technical expertise. If you're a hands-on quality engineer with the depth of experience to identify opportunities, solve complex problems and strengthen quality performance, we'd like to hear from you!
Candidates must be eligible to work in the country where the position is based. Hexcel (NYSE: HXL) is a global leader in advanced composites technology, a leading producer of carbon fiber, and the world leader in honeycomb manufacturing for the commercial aerospace industry.
