You will also champion smarter ways of working by using automation, analytics, dashboards and appropriately governed AI-enabled tools to enhance monitoring, reporting and operational efficiency.
How it works
You proactively identify and mitigate emerging risks, implement practical and sustainable controls, and translate governance requirements into consistent business practices. By providing actionable insights that support informed decision-making and partnering closely with stakeholders, you help balance effective risk management with business enablement, establishing the team as a trusted advisor that protects the organization while driving progress.
What you do
Set the Risk and Control Agenda

Direct risk registers, operational risk indicators, dispensations, control assurance and sample testing, focusing resources on higher-risk areas and ensuring issues are escalated and resolved.
Provide governance oversight of third-party risk, access controls, segregation of duties, transaction monitoring and control incidents.
Coordinate relevant compliance, technology, cyber, end-user computing, personal data and annual assurance activities.
Anticipate the control implications of system upgrades, process redesign, organizational change and transformation initiatives, ensuring controls evolve with the business.
Serve as the key Finance Operations partner to Operational Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, External Audit and other control functions.
Strengthen Data and Process Integrity
Set consistent governance standards for Finance Operations data, including data quality monitoring, attestations, record retention and issue resolution.
Oversee the integrity of supplier, customer and other master data, including independent verification of sensitive information where required.
Provide oversight of key system parameters, master data classifications, item category account mappings, approval workflows and maker-checker controls across procurement and supplier-management processes, ensuring alignment with current policies and supported by clear documentation and approvals.
Keep policies, procedures and operating guides current, practical and consistently applied across relevant entities and locations.
Turn Governance into Insight
Oversee the timely and accurate delivery of corporate governance reporting, operational planning activities, and service-level arrangement reviews between the section and relevant entities.
Apply sound judgement and quality review to submissions, and support clear, well-evidenced responses to management, Board and audit queries.
Elevate risk monitoring and reporting through automation, analytics, dashboards and appropriately governed AI-enabled tools.
Use assurance findings, performance metrics and trend analysis to identify emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
Build Resilience and Readiness
Lead business continuity planning, critical-process assessments, call-tree exercises and disaster recovery testing for Finance Operations.
Identify single points of failure, strengthen backup arrangements and ensure remediation actions are closed effectively.
Support incident response and help teams translate lessons learned into stronger, more resilient ways of working.
Lead People and Influence Outcomes
Lead, coach and develop the Risk & Governance team, creating clarity of purpose, high standards and meaningful development opportunities.
Build capability across risk management, governance, reporting, systems and emerging technologies.
Engage senior stakeholders with confidence, constructive challenges and practical solutions to resolve issues and deliver agreed outcomes.
Foster a culture in which accountability, collaboration, curiosity and sound risk judgement are part of everyday decisions.
