Proven expertise in installing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex network systems is essential. Candidates must be capable of supporting remote control systems for radars, weapons, combat systems, and navigation, with familiarity supporting Windows and Linux environments, video surveillance, communication systems, microwave radios, and antennas. A minimum of two years' experience administering Cisco switches, along with a Cisco certification such as CCNA or CCNP, is required. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to learn and support additional network devices, coordinate with team members and clients, and maintain compliance with company policies and government clearance requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are necessary to produce detailed technical reports and facilitate effective teamwork.
Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include managing network hardware such as Cisco switches, configuring VLANs, MACSEC encryption, and Ether channels. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving network issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted system performance. The engineer will support systems controlling radars, weapons, combat systems, and navigation tools, ensuring all components operate seamlessly during test events. Additionally, responsibilities include supporting diverse hardware and software, including Windows and Linux computers, video encoding/decoding systems, and microwave radios. The engineer must coordinate with team members and clients, providing timely updates and technical guidance. Physical tasks may involve supporting test events underway, traveling to remote sites such as San Nicolas Island, Laguna Peak, and Pt. Mugu, and climbing shipboard ladders as needed.
