Purpose of the post:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Sciences team, covering both Biochemistry and Haematology. You will work as part of a dynamic, quality-driven laboratory team providing vital diagnostic services to support patient care. The department operates modern, automated analytical systems including: Abbott Alinity (Biochemistry), Roche Cobas C702 and e801 (Immunoassay and Chemistry) and Sysmex XN-2000 (Haematology)
This role offers a varied and rewarding workload — from maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) and supporting UKAS ISO 15189 accreditation, to training and mentoring junior staff, validating and authorising results, and contributing to the continuous delivery of a high-quality service for our patients.
You will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory analyses using automated and manual techniques, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of results.
You will be responsible for reviewing, validating and authorising test data in accordance with quality standards, SOPs and regulatory requirements.
You will support laboratory quality systems through routine quality control activities, audits, CAPA investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will troubleshoot instrumentation and process issues, contributing to method validation, equipment verification and overall operational efficiency.
You will maintain compliance through effective stock management, training, competency development and support for colleagues across the laboratory.
You will hold HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high professional and regulatory standards.
You will have proven experience within a Blood Sciences laboratory, with strong knowledge of both Biochemistry and Haematology workflows.
You will have experience operating and troubleshooting analytical platforms, with familiarity of Abbott Alinity, Roche Cobas and Sysmex systems being highly desirable.
You will have a sound understanding of laboratory quality management systems, UKAS requirements and governance processes within a regulated environment.
You will have strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
You will have excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills, enabling you to work collaboratively within a fast-paced Eurofins laboratory while delivering high-quality results and exceptional customer service.
