Operational Food Safety Technologist - Nights

We are currently hiring an Operational Food Safety Technologist to play a key role in safeguarding food safety, quality and operational excellence across Harrods’ restaurants, kitchens and food halls, ensuring our high standards are maintained around the clock.
This role follows a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, with working hours of 6:00pm to 6:00am.
About the Role
As an Operational Food Safety Technologist, you will act as a champion for food safety, quality, legality and compliance across our food operations. Working closely with operational teams, engineering, hygiene and pest control partners, you will help ensure products are produced to specification, food safety standards are consistently met, and any risks are identified and resolved quickly. This role plays a critical part in maintaining our brand reputation, driving a positive food safety culture, and supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring food safety and operational standards across restaurants, kitchens and food halls, providing guidance and support to operational teams.
Reviewing hygiene standards, conducting post-cleaning swabbing activities, and analysing results to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Acting as the key decision-maker on food safety matters outside of core business hours, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
Working collaboratively with engineering, hygiene, pest control and operational teams to ensure food safety controls are maintained following planned and reactive works.
Delivering food safety training, toolbox talks, reporting and governance activities while promoting a strong food safety culture throughout the organisation.
About You
You will be a passionate food safety professional who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and enjoys working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders. You will have the confidence to make informed decisions, influence best practice and uphold the highest standards of food safety and compliance. With a proactive and hands-on approach, you will be comfortable identifying areas for improvement and driving positive change. You will also be highly organised, able to prioritise effectively and committed to delivering exceptional standards at all times.
To be successful, you'll have:
A Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
Previous experience in a Food Technologist role within hospitality, food production or manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge of HACCP principles, Food Safety Management Systems, and experience investigating non-conformances and conducting root cause analysis.
