The requirement
We’re looking for a skilled engineer or small team to design, build, and deliver complete LoRaWAN-based IoT monitoring systems, from hardware to software, for installation in real industrial plants. This is project-based freelance work. Each project has a defined scope, timeline, and fee agreed in advance, with further projects for the right person.
What you’ll build
Hardware
IoT sensor nodes and data loggers built around LoRaWAN modules (schematic, PCB design, prototyping, and production-ready builds)
Interfaces for industrial instruments: 4-20 mA, 0-10 V, RS-485/Modbus RTU, pulse and digital inputs/outputs
Low-power design for battery and solar-powered field devices
Industrial-grade enclosures, protection (surge, reverse polarity, EMI), and weatherproofing suitable for plant conditions
Gateway selection, configuration, and installation planning
Wireless data transmission
LoRaWAN device and network setup for the India band (IN865)
Network server configuration (ChirpStack, TTN, or similar), payload encoding/decoding, and device provisioning
Range testing, signal optimization, and reliable data delivery in industrial environments
Software
Embedded firmware for the devices (ESP32, STM32, or similar)
Backend for data ingestion, storage, and alerts (MQTT, REST APIs, PostgreSQL or time-series database)
Web dashboard for live readings, trends, alarms, and reports
Integration with PLC/SCADA systems or customer platforms where required
Delivery
Testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites
Technical documentation: circuit diagrams, firmware source, configuration, and user manuals
Handover and training for our support team
What we’re looking for
Must have:
Proven experience designing and shipping IoT hardware, not just software on ready-made boards
Hands-on LoRaWAN experience (end devices, gateways, network servers)
Embedded firmware and low-power design skills
Backend and dashboard development skills
Understanding of industrial environments: electrical noise, grounding, power supply issues, and long-term reliability
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and document your work clearly
Diploma or degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
Strong advantage:
Experience with process instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperature transmitters)
Familiarity with PLC/SCADA integration
Knowledge of EMC testing, IP ratings, and WPC/BIS compliance requirements in India
Past deployments in industrial plants (cement, water, power, chemicals, steel)
IoT security basics: device authentication, encryption, secure access
