Technical Buyer (Casting)

Role Brief
The role holder is individual contributor responsible for sourcing, supplier development, NPD casting development, and cost optimization for the Casting commodity. The role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier performance, new product launches, localization, and cost reduction initiatives to ensure quality, continuity of supply, and competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Drive strategic sourcing and procurement activities for casting commodities.
Lead NPD casting development, including supplier selection, tooling development, sample validation, PPAP, and SOP readiness.
Identify, develop, and manage casting suppliers to meet cost, quality, delivery, and capacity requirements.
Support localization and alternate source development initiatives.
Conduct Zero Base Costing (ZBC), should-cost analysis, and cost benchmarking for casting components.
Deliver cost reduction through negotiations, value engineering, process improvements, and sourcing strategies.
Monitor supplier performance and drive improvement actions for quality, delivery, and cost.
Analyze casting market trends, raw material costs, and supplier capabilities to support sourcing decisions.
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Planning, and PMO teams to ensure successful project execution.
Mitigate supply risks and ensure continuity of supply.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, technical specifications, and quality standards.
Drive continuous improvement to achieve sourcing and cost-saving targets.
Skills and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
8-12 years of experience in sourcing and procurement, with strong expertise in castings.
Experience in NPD casting development, supplier industrialization, APQP/PPAP, and product launches.
Strong knowledge of casting processes, cost drivers, supplier development, and manufacturing practices.
Proven track record in strategic sourcing, negotiations, supplier development, and year-on-year cost reduction through ZBC and value engineering.
