Senior PHP Developer

PhiTech Labs is looking for a senior backend developer who can own production systems end to end, from design to deployment, and explain technical decisions clearly to clients.

What you’ll do
Build and maintain scalable backend apps and REST APIs on CodeIgniter
Design normalized MySQL schemas and optimize slow queries (EXPLAIN, indexing, N+1 fixes)
Implement Redis caching, queues, workers, retries and batching
Build reliable inventory and stock flows under concurrent load (transactions, row locking, atomic updates)
Integrate third-party APIs and payment gateways with idempotent webhooks and failure recovery
Apply security best practices: auth, SQL injection/XSS/CSRF prevention, S3 pre-signed URLs
Own CI/CD, migrations, rollbacks and production troubleshooting
Work directly with clients on requirements, trade-offs and timelines
Must-have
✅ 8+ years of PHP backend development
✅ Strong OOP and SOLID, applied in real code
✅ Deep CodeIgniter and MVC knowledge (route → controller → service → model)
✅ Advanced MySQL: JOINs, GROUP BY/HAVING, subqueries, window functions
✅ Redis in production: caching, invalidation, sessions, multiple DB connections
✅ Transactions, isolation levels, locking and overselling prevention
✅ Idempotent payment webhooks, retries and backoff
✅ Clear spoken and written English; comfortable with client-facing work
Good to have
➕ AWS (S3), CodeIgniter 4 / CI3 migration, Laravel, Docker, PHPUnit
➕ E-commerce, inventory or payment-heavy systems
Heads-up: The technical round is hands-on (live SQL, Redis, concurrency and webhook scenarios). We’re prioritizing people who have built and supported these in production.
