Role Description This is a full-time, remote Frontend Developer role. The Frontend Developer will build and maintain user-facing interfaces for web platforms that highlight African founders, startup stories, and ecosystem initiatives. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing responsive UI components, optimizing performance, ensuring cross-browser compatibility, and collaborating with designers and product stakeholders to translate concepts into accessible and engaging user experiences. The role involves integrating frontend code with backend services and APIs, maintaining clean and reusable code, and participating in code reviews. The Frontend Developer will also contribute to improving development workflows, documenting technical decisions, and supporting ongoing enhancements to media and community products.
Qualifications
Strong Front-End Development skills with experience in modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries and Responsive Web Design.
Solid understanding of Web Development fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and familiarity with Software Development best practices.
Basic exposure to Back-End Web Development and working with RESTful or GraphQL APIs is beneficial.
Experience building accessible, mobile-first interfaces and optimizing performance for diverse devices and network conditions.
Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team, communicate clearly, and collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.
Version control proficiency (e.g., Git), familiarity with CI/CD workflows, and comfort working in agile or iterative development environments.
Prior experience in media, community, or startup-focused products, especially within African or emerging markets, is an advantage.
Relevant education or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
