Digital Media Director

The Digital Director is responsible for setting the overall digital media direction across the account, ensuring digital strategy, investment and activation are aligned to client business objectives and deliver against brand, consideration and performance outcomes.
The role provides senior leadership across digital planning, performance, data and activation teams, acting as the key client partner for digital and setting the standards, priorities and investment principles that guide the wider team.

Key Responsibilities
· Partner with Strategy Leads and senior client stakeholders to shape the digital agenda and translate business challenges into clear digital priorities
· Set the overall digital media strategy and direction across the account, ensuring alignment with wider communications and business objectives
· Own digital investment strategy, setting channel, audience and budget principles across campaigns and markets
· Provide senior oversight and approval of digital plans, challenging recommendations to ensure investment is effective, connected and commercially sound
· Ensure digital activity works across the full consumer journey, connecting brand-building, consideration and performance objectives
· Maintain senior oversight of campaign performance, ensuring teams are responding to delivery issues and applying learnings to future planning
· Lead senior client discussions, presentations and digital recommendations, acting as the primary escalation point for digital planning and performance
· Drive collaboration across planning, performance, activation, data, strategy and specialist teams to ensure a connected digital approach
· Build strong relationships with key platforms, technology partners and media owners to unlock innovation, value and strategic opportunities
· Use commercial judgement and negotiation to maximise the effectiveness of digital investment
· Set standards for digital planning, measurement, governance and best practice across the team
· Lead and develop the digital team, including Digital Experience Managers and Performance Managers, ensuring clear roles, accountability and high-quality output
· Support senior account leadership on scope, resourcing, team structure and commercial management
· Stay ahead of digital platform, technology and consumer behaviour developments and determine where these should influence the client’s digital strategy
Skills & Experience
10+ years’ experience across digital media strategy, planning and investment, ideally within a leading agency environment
Proven experience leading major client accounts and complex digital portfolios
Strong strategic understanding of digital ecosystems, audience planning, platform roles and investment strategy
Deep understanding of digital measurement, analytics, media effectiveness and performance
Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills
Excellent senior client leadership, communication and presentation skills
Strong leadership capability with experience managing and developing senior digital teams
Ability to challenge constructively and influence senior stakeholders
Strong working knowledge of major digital platforms, planning tools and measurement solutions
