Together, we can create a legacy marked by innovation, excitement, and energy.
As a Technician III, you will be part of the Clean Fuels Technology R&D team, where you play a key role in developing and improving innovative products and processes. You will execute experiments, support research projects, and contribute to the safe and reliable operation of our laboratory and pilot plant facilities.
You will work on a wide variety of technologies, ranging from advanced catalyst systems for the petrochemical industry to innovative inorganic materials for industrial applications. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine laboratory work, pilot plant operations, and process development in a dynamic R&D environment
What you will do:
Plan, prepare, and independently execute laboratory and pilot plant experiments within assigned R&D projects.
Translate research questions, technical challenges, and targeted literature findings into practical experimental plans, test methods, and equipment configurations.
Set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and adapt laboratory and pilot plant equipment to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality experimental results.
Integrate Ketjen's HSE standards into daily work by proactively identifying hazards, implementing appropriate controls, and ensuring safe execution of laboratory and research activities
Maintain pilot equipment and associated facilities, including quality checks, modifications, QHSE requirements, and accurate technical documentation.
Proactively collaborate with technicians, scientists, engineers, and project teams, fostering open communication and knowledge sharing to achieve project goals.
Record experimental conditions, observations, results, and conclusions accurately and timely in LIMS and other data management systems.
Organizing, analyzing, and statistically validating experimental data to generate robust technical conclusions.
Support scale-up and plant trials by assessing implementation requirements, preparing equipment and test activities, and evaluating relevant process and QHSE implications.
Work closely with technicians, scientists, engineers, and project leads to align objectives, solve experimental challenges, share findings, and improve research programs.
Build and maintain detailed technical knowledge of HPC catalyst production routes, including key process parameters, unit operations, raw materials, and their impact on product performance
Adapt readily between small-scale laboratory work, pilot plant operation, scale-up activities, and support for trial production as project priorities evolve.
What you will bring:
HBO working and thinking level in chemical technology, process technology, applied chemistry, or a comparable technical discipline, with 1–3 years of relevant practical experience.
Demonstrated affinity with hands-on experimental work and the safe operation of laboratory, analytical, and pilot plant equipment.
Strong safety awareness and a disciplined approach to HSE requirements, risk assessment, housekeeping, and accurate execution of experimental procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build, maintain and leverage effective relationships and networks across colleagues, stakeholders and customers;
Proficient in written Dutch and English, enabling accurate documentation, technical reporting and effective communication of (sub)project results and conclusions;
Flexibility, with the ability to effectively manage changing priorities and a diverse range of activities.
Affinity to work with various equipment from analysis to pilot equipment.
Practical knowledge of experimental methods, measurement techniques, sampling, and procedures relevant to catalyst or process development.
Effective presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical approaches, results and recommendations to colleagues and project teams;
Solution-oriented thinking: showing creativity and initiative in solving problems in all phases of a project.
Affinity with software such as: Microsoft Office, PI vision, Sample Manager or other LIMS, ELN, etc
