About the Company
A leading international power systems consultancy specialising in the energy transition is expanding its team working on major transmission and renewable energy projects.
The business works across HVDC, renewable energy integration, power systems, smart grids and large-scale energy infrastructure, supporting complex projects internationally.
Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer with strong experience in the civil aspects of HV transmission projects, particularly cable installation and the onshore construction of substations and converter stations.
The Role
You will join a project team working on Owner's Engineering activities relating to the integration of renewable energy sources and major transmission infrastructure.
You will report to the Senior Project Engineer and be responsible for providing civil engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Typical responsibilities include:
Define plant-specific civil engineering requirements for HVDC converter stations and cable systems.
Assess potential sites from a civil engineering perspective, identifying feasibility, constraints and technical challenges.
Evaluate cable route feasibility, including crossings, HDD, access restrictions and other civil considerations.
Support the full technical implementation process, from preparation of tender documentation through to contract award.
Develop and compare technical and economic alternatives to support major investment decisions.
Define civil engineering scopes for greenfield transmission projects.
Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver complex transmission projects.
Your Profile
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
Several years' experience working on infrastructure projects as a Civil Engineer, Civil Design Engineer, Consulting Engineer or Project Manager.
Experience within a contractor, engineering consultancy or asset owner environment.
Strong understanding of civil engineering requirements associated with power infrastructure.
Experience with outdoor HV substations and/or HVDC converter stations.
Knowledge of buildings, roads, trenches, crossings, HDD and steel structures.
Experience in civil works planning, design and tendering.
Experience with project execution is advantageous.
Ability to determine civil engineering scopes for greenfield projects.
Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex transmission projects in Germany.
Understanding of project implementation according to HOAI.
Fluent English.
Experience with landfall civil works, particularly cable landing HDD, is advantageous.
