The Portland Community College (PCC) Paralegal Program seeks a motivated and detail-oriented ABA Approval Report Assistant to work directly under the supervision of the Faculty Department Chair to assist in the research, compilation, formatting, development, and submission of a major educational compliance/self-study report to the American Bar Association (ABA).
Because paralegal and legal studies programs hold specialized ABA approval distinct from PCC’s regional accreditation, this role focuses directly on program-specific regulatory compliance, curriculum data mapping, and institutional documentation.
What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For
This position directly supports the Faculty Department Chair in preparing and submitting a comprehensive, multi-year ABA program approval report. You will work behind the scenes to gather academic data, organize supporting evidence, audit course syllabi and faculty credentials, and format extensive narrative sections to meet exact ABA submission standards. While this is a casual hourly position, it offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in higher education administration, regulatory compliance, and high-stakes accreditation work alongside department leadership. The detailed documentation, and institutional reporting, all within the legal context, make the position an excellent resume builder for students or early-career professionals aiming for a legal career.
This is a casual temporary position that will end on or around February 2027, with an average of 10hrs a week.
What you will do:
Report Assembly & Document Compliance
Assist the Faculty Department Chair in compiling, formatting, and organizing multi-section ABA approval narrative files and exhibits.
Ensure all report sections adhere to ABA formatting standards, submission guidelines, and page limits, including inputting report details into a web portal.
Proofread narrative drafts for clarity, consistency, tone, and typographical accuracy.
Data
Assist the Faculty Department Chair in creating and gathering data about the program.
Work with others at the college to find missing documentation across program records and college database repositories.
Workflow & Administrative Support
Track submission timelines and milestone deadlines set by the Department Chair to ensure timely completion.
Assist in scheduling draft review sessions and recording action items during planning meetings.
Assist with scheduling internal meetings to gather report information.
Assist with administrative tasks.
