About the job
We’re an independent game development studio based in Scotland working on an original fantasy title, and we’re looking for talented 3D artists to join our team and help bring our world to life. We hope to recruit artists who are passionate about 3D art, enjoy collaborative creative work, and want to play a meaningful role in shaping an ambitious indie project. Our team has been working hard on developing this title for the past nine months, so this is a very exciting opportunity to join an award-winning student project which we now want to develop fully. It’s a brilliant chance to expand your personal skill set and portfolio.
Responsibilities
As part of our 3D art discipline, you could contribute to the creation and development of:
Characters & Creatures — bringing the inhabitants of our world to life.
Environments & Architecture — helping establish the visual identity of our game’s world.
Props & Assets — creating the objects and details that make our environments feel alive.
Visual Development — collaborating with our art team to maintain a cohesive artistic direction.
Requirements
Knowledge of game production pipelines and how the 3D workflow fits into them.
Knowledge of any 3D software. ZBrush and Blender are recommended.
Knowledge of high-low baking, stylised PBR Texturing and Substance Painter pipelines.
Knowledge of in-engine implementation is desirable.
The ability to showcase work professionally, adapt to changes in direction or workflow and be open-minded about learning new systems.
The ability to work remotely and collaboratively as part of a team, aiding in creative discussions and helping to shape the creative style.
Someone with a passion for creating vibrant fantasy worlds and an enthusiasm for becoming part of an indie game development from an early stage.
A professional portfolio showcasing an array of 3D work. In-engine work is desirable.
We are particularly interested in artists who enjoy semi-stylised fantasy, strong visual design and working collaboratively to develop a distinctive world.
Since we are a small team, you will be in the heart of the development process and may be required to assist in other areas.
You must be a resident based in The United Kingdom.
An opportunity to become a shareholder
We’re an early-stage, self-funded indie studio. Our team is building the company together, with shareholders contributing voluntarily as we work towards bringing our game to market. We are still looking to consolidate our core members.
After a trial period, the successful applicant would be offered a share in the company, providing an ownership stake and a voice in company decisions.
Our shareholder agreement also provides for a revenue sharing system based on contributions to the project. These arrangements are subject to the company’s governing documents and applicable law.
This is an equity-based opportunity rather than a conventional salaried position.
About Prometheus Games
Prometheus Games is a small independent games company based remotely throughout the UK. Our team was initially formed out of Abertay University, the UK’s leading university for game design and development. Over the months following, we began the creation of our first game project, which became one of the most successful titles the course has produced. We have received expert industry mentorship in its production, and showcased at the Glasgow Independent Games Festival and EGX London. Our project became award-winning, and now we want to continue to fan the flames and bring you all the next evolution of our beloved game. We are all deeply passionate about making games, supporting young creators and the impact that games have on all of us. We hope you will support us on our journey.
