About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Job Location: This position will be Telecommuter / Remote / Work from Home (when not inspecting facilities within Missouri).
Why You’ll Love This Position
If you're looking for a job that's more than a desk and a stack of paperwork, this is it.
As an EMS Inspector, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at Missouri's emergency medical services system while working with ambulance providers, emergency medical response agencies, training programs, and EMS professionals across the state. From urban services to rural providers, you'll see firsthand how EMS operates in communities of every size.
This is a highly independent role that combines travel, relationship-building, and problem-solving with a mission that matters. The work you do will help strengthen EMS services across Missouri and support the professionals who deliver lifesaving care every day.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
Conduct onsite inspections of EMS agencies and training entities to assess compliance with Missouri EMS laws, rules, licensure requirements, and operational standards.
Serve as a resource to EMS agencies and personnel by providing technical assistance, guidance, and education regarding compliance requirements and operational standards.
Monitor corrective actions following inspections and work with agencies to ensure identified deficiencies are addressed within required timeframes.
Collaborate with Bureau staff and partner agencies on licensure, compliance, and program initiatives that support statewide EMS system quality and consistency.
Prepare detailed written reports, correspondence, and recommendations related to inspections, licensure activities, and compliance findings.
Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation of inspections, licensing actions, and correspondence within the License Management System, Elite database, and other Bureau systems.
Maintain accurate and organized records of EMS-related correspondence, inspection activities, and compliance documentation.
Maintain current knowledge of Missouri EMS statutes and regulations, Bureau policies and procedures, and National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) requirements to ensure consistent interpretation and application of standards.
Maintain accurate and organized records of all incoming and outgoing EMS-related correspondence and documentation.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with state and federal requirements.
Perform additional duties and special assignments as directed by the Bureau Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current Missouri Paramedic license (preferred); or current Missouri Advanced EMT (AEMT) or EMT license
Must possess a valid Missouri driver’s license, or equivalent license from another state. Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record that meets the standards developed by the Missouri Department of Public Safety (DPS) and DHSS policies to operate vehicles.
A minimum of three (3) years active EMS field experience.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage assigned workload in a timely and reliable manner, and consistently adhere to assigned work schedules and hours
Lack of post‐secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
The State of Missouri offers an excellent benefits package that includes a defined pension plan, generous amounts of leave and holiday time, and eligibility for health insurance coverage.
