Role Overview
We are looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Category Manager – Mobility, Transit & Tourism to own the end-to-end performance of this unified vertical on DigiHaat. You will build and scale a comprehensive mobility and tourism marketplace covering daily/regional transit options, stays, local experiences, guided tours, and travel-linked products such as handicrafts, local produce, and curated travel kits. You will onboard and manage supply, ensure listing quality, track bookings and fulfillment, and work with product and tech teams to deliver a seamless buyer journey across transit and travel.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy and Growth
Define and execute the category strategy for mobility, transit, and tourism with clear goals, priorities, and KPIs in collaboration with product, marketing, and business teams.
Identify high-potential segments across transit & mobility (first-mile/last-mile connectivity, intercity bus/rail integrators, local transit options) alongside tourism segments (homestays, rural & heritage tourism, craft and culinary experiences, pilgrimage and wellness travel).
Build the category roadmap around seasonality, commuting patterns, regional demand, festivals, and travel trends.
Align category operations with broader business objectives of growth, network adoption, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Supply Onboarding and Partner Management
Onboard and nurture a diverse supply base: transit operators, mobility service providers, homestay owners, tour operators, local guides, experience hosts, artisans, and tourism-linked sellers.
Build strong relationships with mobility aggregators, transport operators, travel suppliers, and logistics partners to ensure service reliability, availability, and cost efficiency.
Set and monitor service standards, cancellation/refund policies, and compliance requirements, including transport permits, local licenses, and safety norms.
Handhold small transit operators, experience hosts, and first-time digital sellers through onboarding, catalogue creation, and platform best practices.
Booking, Transit & Order Lifecycle Operations
Monitor the full lifecycle from route search, booking, ticket issuance, and service delivery to post-trip feedback to ensure a smooth end-to-end customer experience.
Track and resolve operational issues such as schedule disruptions, cancellations, no-shows, overbooking, service quality complaints, refunds, and physical product deliveries.
Work with operations teams to streamline fulfillment for mobility bookings and tourism-linked retail products.
Identify and implement process improvements to reduce operational costs and maximize booking efficiency.
Pricing, Inventory and Demand Management
Use demand forecasting to manage inventory, seat/stay availability, and peak/off-peak capacity across daily transit and travel seasons.
Develop dynamic pricing strategies, bundled offers, and multi-modal travel packages (e.g., Transit Pass + Stay + Experience + Local Products) to improve conversion and basket value.
Work with marketing on customer acquisition campaigns, transit usage incentives, destination-led promotions, and seasonal travel offers.
Data-Driven Decision Making
Use data and analytics to track category performance: GMV, total bookings, route throughput, conversion rate, repeat rate, cancellation rate, customer ratings, and partner reliability.
Identify commuting and travel trends, regional transit bottlenecks, and category expansion opportunities.
Deliver regular performance reports and actionable insights to internal and external stakeholders for continuous platform optimization.
Listing Quality and User Experience
Ensure listings, routes, and travel options are accurate, current, and compelling - covering departure/arrival schedules, stay descriptions, itineraries, amenities, pricing, availability, and policies.
Analyze customer reviews, ratings, and ride/trip feedback to identify pain points and collaborate with tech/product teams to address them.
Drive product enhancements for multi-modal travel discovery, transit routing, category search filters, and trust signals for mobility and travel services.
Qualifications And Experience
Total Experience: 8–12 years in category management, marketplace operations, or business leadership roles.
Mandatory Industry Experience: Direct, proven experience across Mobility / Transit, the Travel Industry, and Tourism Management.
Track Record: Proven success in building, scaling, and monetizing digital platforms in mobility, travel, or multi-service marketplaces.
Must-Have Attributes
Hands-on experience with buyer-facing apps in mobility, transit, travel, hospitality, or experience marketplaces (e.g., transit/cab apps, OTAs, activity platforms).
Deep understanding of the Indian mobility and tourism ecosystem, including urban/rural transit networks, regional travel dynamics, and localized tourism.
Expertise in yield management, dynamic pricing, route/inventory capacity planning, and user acquisition strategies.
Solid grasp of agile methodologies and demonstrated skill in working with cross-functional product and tech teams.
Exceptional negotiation, partner management, and stakeholder communication skills.
