Type: Contract
Compensation: $90–$110/hour
Location: Remote
Role Responsibilities
Complete realistic, multi-step scientific data-analysis tasks in bioinformatics.
Write original bioinformatics questions with exact and objective answers.
Choose and anonymize data from public archives like GEO, SRA/ENA, ArrayExpress, PRIDE, PDB, MGnify, or your unpublished lab data for model analysis.
Use scientific software, code, and command-line tools to generate reproducible analyses and structured outputs.
Develop a Jupyter validation notebook using Python or R to reproduce correct answers.
Interpret results in the context of biological or translational questions, communicating assumptions, uncertainty, and conclusions clearly.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Master's or PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, statistical genetics, quantitative biology, or a related field.
Hands-on experience analyzing sequencing and omics data, including RNA-seq, WGS/WES, variant calling, metagenomics, or proteomics.
Experience with tools like samtools, bcftools, bedtools, BWA, Bowtie2, BLAST, Python (pandas, Biopython, pysam) or R/Bioconductor (DESeq2, edgeR, limma, GenomicRanges).
Ability to write and run Jupyter notebooks that reproduce work exactly.
Clear, precise scientific writing.
Preferred
Access to unpublished or private datasets you can share.
Deep knowledge of a niche area, such as a non-model organism, unusual assay, or specialized genomic interpretation.
