A day in the life…
Sunrise is Australia's #1 breakfast program, and the overnight production team is where the show comes together before the sun's even up. We're looking for an Overnight News Producer to join the team that breaks news every morning — fast, accurate, and audience-focussed.
Based in Sydney, reporting directly to the Director of News.
What you'll do:
Liaise with our reporters, camera crews and producers around Australia and overseas to coordinate coverage
Monitor trusted news sources, breaking news and social media through the night, flagging and chasing stories as they develop
Write and produce news segments for broadcast
Work closely with producers and presenters to shape the running order as the show goes to air
Ensure all content meets editorial standards, accuracy and legal requirements
Respond calmly and quickly when major stories break overnight
What will you need
You’re a professional, proactive, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You’ll also bring:
Proven experience as a producer or reporter
Excellent news judgement and a sharp eye for what's important to a breakfast audience
Strong writing skills — clear, punchy and accurate under pressure
Ability to work unsupervised, make fast decisions and stay composed on deadline
Willingness to work overnight shifts, including public holidays and occasional weekends
A genuine passion for news and live television
Still not convinced? Let us sweeten the deal!
Be part of the team behind Australia's most-watched breakfast show
Work at the heart of a fast-paced, high-profile newsroom
Genuine career pathways within Seven's news and public affairs division
Supportive, experienced team culture
